With the guidance of Animal Control Officers and Veterinarians, the Explorers are dedicated to further Long Beach Animal Care Service's goal to make Long Beach the safest large city for both people and animals.

The Long Beach A.C.S. Explorers post is comprised of qualified and professional young individuals. Explorers will be trained in once-monthly meetings about cleaning protocols, handling of exotic and domestic animals, special investigations, and animal health. They will then be allowed ride-alongs with officers and participation in other bureau events. These future leaders use what they learn about animals in order to protect them and educate others in proper care.
