Our mission on behalf of the animals impounded by the Cities of Swan and Belmont is to reunite lost animals with their owners. But for all those dogs and cats that remain unclaimed, our mission extends to rescue and adopt as many unclaimed pound animals as we are able to – to save them from euthanasia.

Of course it is obvious from this page that it is our passion to rescue and adopt, but It is a vastly different sense of satisfaction of a “job done well” when we are able to reunite in the first place.

Most people claiming their dogs are glad they are safe, and are grateful despite being grumpy at the fees that all shires impose for a wandering pooch. But then there are those souls for whom the magic happens when they are reunited with their pooch and they are made whole again.

To say this job is rewarding would be an understatement of a grand scale.

It isn’t a job – it’s a passion, if it wasn’t we wouldn’t still be doing it, and always trying to do it better - still after 25 years.

Celebrity Pets is our affectionately dubbed rehoming program for animals that find themselves lost or abandoned as a result of our local council’s impoundment procedure. Having been the service provider for the City of Swan for over 20 years here at Julie’s Boarding Kennels and Cattery we have provided this rehoming program from directly within our own resources. In this capacity we have rehomed literally THOUSANDS of beautiful creatures that most definitely deserve a second chance, which in other circumstances would have met with a very different fate.

Our animal attendants and handlers and our admin staff have often volunteered their free time to assist us with rehoming these dogs. In addition to the provision of shelter, cleaning, feeding and generally meeting these dogs daily needs the staff of Julie’s Kennels have spent countless hours both as part of their job description AND by way of volunteering, taking photos, doing vet runs, providing bathing worming and flea treatments, conducting “meet and greets”, attending never-ending amounts of telephone enquiries and responses, then providing all the administration duties that a rehoming program of this nature generates – placing ads, creating pet profiles organising sterilizations, arranging micro chips and transfers, performing record keeping and reporting duties - the list goes on. And I would personally like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone, past and present, who has participated over the years.

And a very warm thank you to those of the community that have supported us as well, not just in rehoming program but with donations of blankets and towels and even sponsoring vet work for some of the more needy.

Extra special thanks must go to our consulting veterinarian for the Celebrity Pet Rehoming Program - Dr Martin Robley and his staff at the Noranda Vet practice, who have provided us with essential veterinary services, vaccination, microchips and sterilizations for a marginal fee, without which we would not be where we are today.

Because we deal with many bigger breed s that can be more difficult to place because of lack of training and social skills, we also sought the services of Complete K9 Solutions. Paul now visits us once a week to put in place training program for each of our pooches that need a little bit extra help before they are adopted. The benefits of this one-on-one training have been rewarded 100 fold. Very few of our pooches now come back, and many of the bigger more powerful breeds can be relocated with confidence that their new owners will have the tools to continue their rehabilitation.

Without all of you, without all of us, these lost and abandoned pooches would not have even stood a chance. Thank You ALL !!
