Nixmo came to us from a high kill shelter in Clovis, NM - he is estimated 4-5yrs old and is a very good boy! We tried to tell him that his normal outfit wasn't a costume, but once he explained it (woo woo woo) we understood - Nixmo wanted to dress up as Albert Einstein for Halloween! And the resemblance is uncanny 😂
He is very friendly with humans and other dogs though not as crazy insane energy level as some huskies that we get! He's a great fit for someone looking for a middle-aged husky that is past the puppy stage and looking for a loving family member that does need a little training, but has a wonderful temperament to make up for that!
Nixmo's neuter appointment is coming up, so in the meantime he is only available to a foster-to-adopt home (provided you can drive him to and from his medical appointment and his aftercare needs!)

Time for a medical pupdate! Remember Shiloh? This guy had what we believe to be a bullet hole right through the skin on his muzzle! We were thankfully able to fill a run of amazing volunteers to emergency transport him to us in Phoenix for facial reconstruction surgery - and we can't believe how good he looks now!!!
Shiloh has been adopted and is loving life in his new forever home - he is a dragon for Halloween this year and he is so happy to show you his new and improved smile :)

First of all, Rocky is HOME SAFE with his foster!! YAY!
We had taken these pics when he arrived last weekend but it didn't feel right to post them until he was back safely with us 🖤
Rocky is a red panda for Halloween this year! He comes to us from the high kill shelter in Clovis, NM - pups in their shelter are given only 5 days before euthanasia. We were thankfully able to pull him when things got down to the wire. He is estimated 3-5yrs old and is overall a really good boy, friendly with humans and playful with other dogs. He clearly does have some will to escape as he was able to tunnel under his foster's fence within a few days, so recommend caution and supervision as he adjusts.
He got a bath when he first arrived here and did great - we had to get pretty up close and personal since he was so dirty, but he showed no aggression at all. He is medium/high energy and seems to know some commands and is very attentive and excited for treats. He has a ton of potential for the right adopter! He still needs to be neutered and have basic diagnostic tests done to rule out common health issues. Once this is done he will be ready to go to his forever home - we can place him with the right adopter in a foster-to-adopt home ASAP, provided the adopter is able to work with us for medical appointment scheduling!

Sirius came to us from a high kill shelter in Clovis, NM - he is estimated 2-3yrs old and is a white Siberian Husky mix, assumed with Great Pyrenees given his size and body structure - he is a very big boy, and is dressed up as a cowboy for Halloween!
He is very friendly with humans and does best with other dogs that are female – he has no issues at all with female dogs and is relaxed and calm around them. He can be selective with other males - some no issue and some he has been a little grumbly. He loves people so much and is grateful for all the attention he can get! He can also be an escape artist when he is in a new situation and is not given enough attention.
His fosters have worked with him on some basic manners. He does have some resource guarding with food and water - nothing major and with consistent reinforcement and training would not be a major issue. We do recommend he be fed separately until settled and slow transition attempted with an adopter.
If you'd like to give this cowboy a forever home, please let us know! Sirius is more than ready :)

Max is an older Siberian Husky, estimated 9-10yrs - his eyes definitely show some signs of aging but he is still a sweet boy with a good amount of energy and a lot of love. He comes to us from a high kill shelter in Clovis, NM where he was rescued along with his blood-related brother. The two are oddly not bonded (they actually got into a few scuffles, though not shocking considering both were not neutered when they arrived), and we have placed them in separate foster homes and they have actually seemed quite content with the new companions they have found. Max is with a female husky who is just a little younger than him and is doing great.
When Max was pulled from the shelter, he had what the rescue contact in NM originally believed to be a wound that was not healing. She took him for immediate vet care and received some medication - unfortunately once this was out, he still had the wound in the same condition. We took him to our vet shortly after he arrived in Arizona, at which time we realized that this was likely a tumor. Our vet removed this mass the following week and it is currently out for testing - we believe that all of it was removed and his bloodwork and urinalysis tests were very good considering his age overall. Depending on the results and his follow-up visit once his staples are removed, he will have a clean bill of health and be fully available for adoption!

Now that Pumpkin totally healed from her spay, we’re doing more leash work and outdoor play etiquette with her. She does great indoors and curls up like a fox napping quite a bit! She does have some habits that her foster is currently working through, like jumping, and being reactive at sporadic times with various types of triggers (sometimes she’ll mouth when her collar is grabbed but not other times, occasionally while she’s laying down perhaps in certain positions where her belly is more exposed). This is in a "stop it". type of way and not in any way showing desire to harm people.
She doesn’t seem to have any food/resource aggression towards humans but definitely gives warning snarls to other dogs who get to close to her while she is eating - her foster is still working on this too!
She truly does do well in a crate but tends to shell up and become antisocial if the crate is left out all the time for her, which leads to more instances of the behaviors above. Her foster has removed the crate and provided her den-like spaces to nap and this has improved some of the possessive behavior she has shown towards the others in her foster home. She is in a foster home with 3 other pups right now, one being a smaller dog, and overall really is doing well - crating is a decision that would be best left up to the adopter circumstantially but may not be needed, as good as it is to know that she does well in one!

Remember Estrella? She's a tough one to forget! This girl is so, so sweet, which is amazing after all she has been through. We responded to a rescue plea from the Arizona Humane Society to take in a husky who had been shot in the mouth. As best the vets could tell, the bullet trajectory went through her tongue and out her neck. She is so lucky to be alive! Her jawbone was broken so badly an entire piece of it was detached and floating freely.
She had her surgery September 15th, and we just had her check-up at 4 weeks post surgery. She is starting to heal (and she looks amazing and is so loved!), but her bones definitely need some more time. Her foster is taking great care of her in the meantime, and will also be adopting her once she gets the medical all clear!
Estrella is doing so great with the other pups in the foster's home - though she just wants to play so keeping her calm to heal has been the most difficult part of her journey so far. We love her positive attitude and smiles after all that happened to her.
She is a pretty little flower (and a rainbow!) for Halloween this year.

Biscuit is very fittingly our sweet Care Bear this Halloween! We just love this guy. He's been with us a while now and we have been working on his rehab diligently. He came to us from California where he faced euthanasia at a vet clinic where he was surrendered after being hit by a car. His owners were contact but could not afford his vet care and stated that he escaped too often, thus they surrendered him to the vet.
He has had a very distinct limp in his leg from the car accident since we got him and we had an MRI done to show the extent of the damage - the neurologists recommended that we work on physical therapy to allow him to keep his leg and regain use, so that is exactly what we have been doing.
Biscuit's fosters note that he is shy towards humans but LOVES belly rubs and will happily take treats from your hand, and is super gentle about doing it. He also loves dogs his size and larger, and will play for hours - he will actually seek out the most playful dog in the pack and become best friends! He is also completely fine with cats - no aggression and pretty much just ignores them! Definitely unique for a husky in that he won't even chase them.
He loves lounging and napping - you can usually find him in a quiet place or basking in the sun when he's not playing. During the summer, he likes laying on pool steps to cool off too. With therapy, the feeling in his leg is improving and he does not have activity restrictions anymore. He does get daily medication, but it is not expensive.
We would love to give a potential adopter the full rundown on what his medical future looks like and what cost expectation there would be in giving Biscuit a forever home! After everything this sweet guy has been through, he deserves to finally be with one person or family for the rest of his life.

Blaze, one of our remaining pups is such a super hero! He turns 10 weeks old today and he is SO READY for his forever home! These pups are going to be HUGE, we are estimating close to 100lbs. His mom is husky / cattle dog/ shepherd, and given the coloring and fur type of these pups, we think dad was something pretty big and fluffy too! We can't wait to see them all grown up!
