💫Adoption Opportunity💫
Meet the adorable bookend aka pirate kittens. Ry and Cooder are brothers who came to us along with three other siblings and their sweet mother (all adopted) when the Stockton Animal Shelter reached out for help. The whole litter had a severe upper respiratory infection and untreated eye infections that caused three of the kittens to suffer ruptured eyes which required removal. Ry and Cooder were two of the three kittens who sadly lost an eye… fortunately for the boys, their remainining eyes are healthy with normal vision. Despite their rough start, the kittens are playful and happy. They are dog like in their affection for humans and have such great energy. Because Ry has a guitar pick shape on his shoulder, the boys were named after the famous guitar player, “Ry Cooder”, who ironically also had vision in only one eye. These bonded boys bring entertainment, love, and laughter wherever they go. Our wonderful foster family took in these little cubs and provided them with life saving medications and treated them with care. The boy’s mother did an excellent job raising them and was a loving mother. The kittens were all so precious and wonderful. Ry and Cooder are the remaining pair ready to venture out and find a family of their own. We think Ry and Cooder will be fine with cat friendly dogs and children who are respectful and gentle with a proper adjustment period of course. If you think you can take Ry and Cooder from trash to treasure, and provide them with an indoor only life, please submit an application at www.secondchancekitty.org.

✅Adoption Update ✅
Yoshiko must have seen his sister Emiko while scrolling last night 📱 so he wanted to stop in and say hi and wants to put in a good word for her. He really wants her to get a wonderful home like he did 💙
His new parents also reported this “Just wanted to send an update that Yoshiko is growing fast and thriving! Thank you!”

Meet beautiful Emiko. She and her siblings were born in March 2021. Their mother had been was someone's pet at one time, but the family she had sadly moved away leaving her behind to fend for herself and unaltered. The young cat soon found herself pregnant and now homeless. She stayed in the yard where she’d lived with her family before they left her and gave birth to her kittens. After the kittens were born, a new family moved into "her" house and did not want her or her babes around. Knowing she had to protect her babies, she moved them to the house next door and luckily it was the home of a Good Samaritan family. The Good Sam family watched after her and her babies and she learned quickly where to get a hot meal. Once the kittens were about 6 weeks old, they reached out to us for help with the mama and her little cubs.
Emiko is a sweet, loving kitten. She is an interesting mix and has three different color schemes and some of each personality. The tuxedo side of her loves to be pet all the time. She can be a little shy like a calico, and if she doesn’t know her surroundings well, she can startle so she’ll need someone patient and loving. The tortie side of Emiko is aware of her surroundings and likes to explore and occasionally will show a mild tortie-tude. Emiko really enjoys her one-on-one time with her foster family and shows it by turning on her bread making paws and purr machine. If you think Emiko is a good fit for your family, and you can provide her with a safe indoor only lifetime home, please submit an application today at www.secondchancekitty.org.

Meet Karmen. Karmen is a precious little girl who came in as a single someone found under a car on a busy street when she was a very little girl. Karmen is very attractive in her appearance as well as her personality. Karmen would be great with respectful gentle children who wouldn’t be forceful or impatient with her. Karmen also gets along well with other cat friendly cats and we’re confident she would warm up to a cat friendly dog too. Karmen knows her name and comes when called. She’s a gentle, soft, old soul and is quite captivating. Karmen will make the perfect addition to the right home. If you think you would be a wonderful fit for this sweetheart and can provide her a safe, loving, 100% indoor only home, please submit an application today at www.secondchancekitty.org.

💙 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the loss of one of our dedicated volunteers, loving kitty adopters and friend.💙
Tricia Newman-Nincioni was a wonderful person we’re honored to have known who adopted her beloved cat Gentry “GG” from us in December of 2018. Six months later, Tricia became a dedicated volunteer and managed the kitty room at the Pet Supplies Plus on Country Club Blvd in Stockton ever since. Tricia would come several times a week and complete the glamorous tasks of cleaning litter boxes, feeding, watering and then the very best part… giving and receiving love from the sweet souls waiting to be discovered by their future adoptive families. Tricia would often do meet and greets with potential adopters at that location as she began to know the kitties as well as their foster parents. Tricia would often make videos of her own kitties as well as the kitties at the store in an effort to get them exposure and post on her TikTok account @tricia.n.n Tricia was a fellow animal lover and just an all round terrific person.
I was honored to have been invited to the family home for a celebration of life gathering this past Saturday and it was evident how much she was loved and that she’d lived a beautiful life. She will be missed by SO many, including the kitties she would share her time and love with. God bless her family who miss her terribly. We’re so grateful and blessed to have known and worked with her. 💙

Meet Suniva… Suniva was a sweet little friendly girl who appeared at a feral colony not feeling well. Very thin and sickly. She was taken to the veterinarian for evaluation and unfortunately was diagnosed with dry Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP). Suniva would not eat on her own and had to be syringe fed baby food.
FIP is a viral disease that occurs worldwide in wild and domestic cats. It is caused by a type of virus called a coronavirus (not to be confused with COVID-19), which tends to attack the cells of the intestinal wall. FIP had been a death sentence for cats until a recent study done by UC Davis with a drug similar to Remdesivir called GS-441524 was used in trials that gave promising results and hope to pet owners all over the world. This medication is not yet sold in the US but out of country pharmacutical companies have replicated this drug. Suniva has begun this expensive treatment and is responding favorably. She’s eating on her own and is now over 8 pounds! Please help us to continue administering this life saving medication to her. Donations are desperately needed to continue our work and to save Suniva. If you are able to donate to her care or any others, it is greatly appreciated.
We accept PayPal (2chancekittys@gmail.com); Venmo (@SecondChance-Kitty); CashApp ($secondchancekitty) and of course donations may be mailed to: Second Chance Kitty P.O. Box 691671 Stockton, CA 95269-1671
