Hey Y’all!
We visited with our sweet Señor Walter Chonkypants over the weekend and man this kid is
AH-MAZING!
He’s technically not available for adoption until we get all of his medical sorted out, but we’ve already received applications for this hunk, and understandably so.
We just got word that his blood work came back in pretty decent shape.
The few things we’re looking at are; skin infection (that he’s already on antibiotics to treat), severe dental disease (some of those teeth are black and grey), elevation in white blood cell count but this could be due to his body fighting off infection from the dental disease and urine dilute that we’ll recheck the specific gravity (ability for body to concentrate the urine) before sedating to treat his severe dental disease and getting him neutered.
Yes y’all, he is all that and a bag of chips!
We should have a formal quote for the dental and neuter by Friday of this week and will share for anyone who’d like to donate toward his medical care.

Y’all! How is it that this love bug Angel, posing as a dog, is still looking for his forever human? Literally mind blown 🤯
He is hands down the sweetest damn pup!
Friendly reminder, Rocky was saved from the streets of Mexico and is approximately 5 years old.
He is an Ehrlichiosis survivor which is a bacterial disease caused by ticks.
He has chronic distemper myoclonus, causing constant contractions of the jaw leading to gum recession and bone loss.
We have seen all the vets and specialist, exhausting all medical options for this boy; unfortunately, Rocky is medically not able to undergo anesthesia for oral surgery or neuter. It could literally kill him.
Rocky is an incredibly happy boy, gets along with all the dogs that he’s previously met, been in foster homes with and is currently with. Most don’t even mind his drool! 😆
We are looking for a long term foster (@realgoodrescue covers all costs) or a forever home for this boy to let him bask outdoors (he’ll spend 12 hours a day in the yard, his terms not ours) and receive all the love that he deserves.

After this weekend’s devastating news,
we’re happy to kick off the week with the announcement that our boy named Mabel has been officially adopted by his foster family!
From running the streets of New Mexico as a stray, Mabel was chasing a ballon and was hit by a car.
His foster, now dad, was on a road trip and witnessed this and wanted to be sure he was taken care of. They reached out to us and asked for our help. How could we say no?!
This sweet boy is all healed up from his accident and now enjoys hikes, camping trips and all the snacks with his family!
Here’s to the good life buddy!

The heavens gained an Angel last night.
Loosing a family member is never easy; but loosing one that’s just a baby, before their life even begins is truly devastating.
One of Mama Brooklyn’s babies, Kylo, has crossed the rainbow bridge.
He was in the absolute best family, who waited almost a year to adopt a him because they refused to buy from a breeder.
He was loved by his canine sister and his human brother so very much.
Kylo was home with his family when his dad heard a howl, when he walked over to check on him, Kylo looked at his dad, let out three breaths and stopped.
His dad rushed him to emergency but because his little heart had already stopped there was nothing they could do.
Kylo’s family asked they he be intubated to check his airways and to try and revive him. X-rays were also done to ensure that there was no internal trauma or foreign objects that could have contributed to this.
We spoke with the VCA ER doctor to try and gain some semblance of clarity on how this tragedy could have happened and were told that sometimes these things just happen.
Hug your family members extra tight and please send all the love and healing to @misscareeza and her family as they are beyond heart broken.

How it’s going vs. how it started.
If you’re new to Real Good Rescue, let us catch you up; it all started when we were sent a video of this beautiful boy was spotted in a driveway in Hawthorne by our friends at @rescuealldogsco in Canada.
Over 30 hours was spent surveilling him with the incredible team at @dogdayssar and @catching_paws, to finally having him safe in Mike’s trap. He then spent time with @for_pono which lead us to reaching out for to @mr.johnflores from @humblek9 who agreed to take him on for proper evaluation. We watched and worked with John and his incredible team @eleanor.andthedogs & @blues_babes, Elvis and other visitor pups that helped Obi work through his fears and distrust of humans, allowing him relax and learn to be a dog. Thank you @xoxlaurenelizabeth @turtsmtl for so generously sponsoring the majority of Obi’s rehabilitation with @humblek9.
Thank you @rescuealldogsco @djyoc for always advocating from afar for our LA pups. Thank you @______soyoung______ for connecting us with Veronica and the @dogdayssar team, who brought in Mike Noon.

For any of our new followers, Rocky was saved from the streets of Mexico and is approximately 5 years old.

Happy Saturday Rescue Fam!
We’d love to get this Angel outta the shelter but need a committed and experienced foster to do so.
We reached out to the Devore shelter staff to obtain medical and behavioral notes on Scythe and were told, “He has not shown any signs of having behavior or medical issues. If the staff noticed anything it would have been noted”.
However, it’s clear a dental is in order. He would see one of our vets for a complete work up. We would also do an assessment with one of our trainers, if need be, to better understand him and his needs before placing him in a forever home.
What we do know is that, this short stack is about as adorable as they come, approximately 7 years old and talks real cute!
If you’ve never fostered for us before, the rescue covers all expenses (unless the foster would like to donate toward his care) and we’ll need to review your completed foster application.

His foster says “Mabel is a high-energy, curious, fun loving little fellow. He loves to meet and play with all dogs and humans alike. He’s very confident and well socialized, always up for a hike or a play date. He loves adventures and daily trips to the dog park–as much stimulation as he can get, he’ll take and never tire. An active lifestyle is crucial to his wellbeing, but he’s also so sweet and gentle, loving to cuddle and be doted over.
Mabel has no ingrained behavioral issues, has never been destructive, and has his fundamentals mostly down, i.e., potty training and basic commands. His recall is hit-or-miss and he’s a bit rambunctious and bratty sometimes, but with structure, stimulation, and consistency he is growing to be a great dog and companion.
Mabel is a great pup with potential to be a really special dog and would do best with a human/s who live an active lifestyle and have the time and ability to maintain consistency”.

Happy National Pit Bull Awareness Day!
NPBAD was established in 2007 as a day of bully breed appreciation and education by Jodi Preis of Bless the Bullys, a pit bull rescue group out of Tennessee. Despite the overall positive reception to this initiative, many took to criticism of the use of the generic term “pit bull”. However, this term was chosen deliberately because “pit bull” is the name most familiar to the public and oftentimes evokes a negative connotation of a particular grouping of dogs. The objective of NPBAD is to change this negative association.
Pit Bulls were once a proud American icon. They are war heroes, movie stars, police dogs, therapy and service dogs. They are amazingly loyal companions. But, over time, the actions of a few have caused the entire breed to be criticized.
So, if you believe pit bulls are the sweetest, mushiest and most loyal creatures on earth, this day is for you! And if you believe pit bulls are menacing and dangerous, this day is for you too! If you are not familiar, take a moment to really learn about these dogs. And if you are a pit bull parent, take the time to educate and advocate for your four-legged baby. This is the only way we will ever bring positive change for these amazing animals!

Here’s what his new family had to say: “We are thrilled to announce we opened our hearts and our home to this handsome short stack rescue pibble, HANK!! 🐶💙We found him through the incredible @realgoodrescue and are overjoyed to be able to give this sweet boy a second chance at life. He's been with us for almost 2 weeks and has been nothing short of amazing while integrating him into our life. He is so patient, gentle, and sweet. He and Connor are becoming fast friends, and it warms my heart knowing Connor has a canine companion again. 🐾 He is obsessed with helping us feed him. 🤭 Hank is the perfect mix of couch potato and playful hippo. We are all over the moon in love with him. 🥰”
