We try to mostly show you our Lucky Dogs at their happiest...playing among their friends and healed from whatever illness or injury that brought them to our attention. But on today, #GivingTuesday, we thought we would show you exactly the impact your generous donations have on our dogs.

This first slide is a photo of sweet Iggy at Lucky Dog Refuge, shortly before she was adopted to a wonderful forever family who adores her. What a bright future she has ahead! But that wasn't always the case. If you swipe (**graphic image warning**) you'll see how we found her. She was abandoned with a prolapsed rectum and a bulging eye, caused by blunt force trauma. The finder couldn't afford to care for her so the choice was either to find rescue for her or take her to the pound, where she would be euthanized. She was only 12 weeks old.

That when our super foster Stacey sent us a literal 🆘️ and we stepped in. Iggy immediately had surgery and was well enough to join us in CT a month or so later, where she made close friends with the other Lucky Dogs before finding her forever family.

But that fairy tail ending wouldn't have been possible without the generous donations from our supporters. Donors like you literally saved her life a couple months ago...and you may not even have known it.

Don’t let his small size fool you though, this guy is always at the milk bar and aspires to be as big as his siblings. Please join us in wishing Lauren a Happy Birthday! Our doggie doula, record keeping, pup cuddler, administrative whiz, Lauren does it all! Last week she sat by Casserole for 12hours welcoming each puppy into the world and keeping Casserole calm in between doing her computer work. Making sure the refuge is staffed, bills are paid, and a hundred other things Lauren is a vital key to the happiness of the dogs in our care. Her behind the scenes work mainly keeps her in the office, but you can always bet there’s a dog in there with her. Happy Birthday Lauren!!!! We hope there are so many dogs to pet, birds to hold and puppies to kiss in this upcoming trip around the sun for you!

Meet Solo! A #CaneCorso mix this guy is true to his breed; weary of strangers but putty in your hand once he trusts you. Solo is a large puppy, still learning manners, gaining confidence and navigating life with a rough start. He is about 90lbs and still growing, so a large breed experienced home is required. Smart and eager to please Solo has shown us he wants to be the goodest boy, he knows sit, is working on down and most of the time walks in a perfect heel. Solo loves to play with dogs of all sizes but may be a bit much for dogs under 30lbs, he has zero body awareness and those giant paws may accidentally hurt a small dog. Fully vetted, and ready to go home Solo is looking for an adult only/older teen home, a dog companion would be fantastic and we have not yet cat tested him.

Emmie and the LDR family would like to say a HUGE thank you to the staff and volunteers that took time out of their holiday to spend it with our beloved pups. There is no such thing as a day off in rescue because the dogs need (and deserve) care all day, 365 days a week. It takes a very passionate, compassionate group of people to make that commitment and sacrifice - whether staff, volunteers, fosters, vets, and more. Meet Pretzel! Half as tall and twice as long, Pretzel is a curiously put together pup with a curly tail and goofy pawsonality to match his look. Originally saved by @soidogfoundation in #thailand this young pup arrived stateside in July just before the dog import ban was enforced. When Pretzel and his friends became in need of rescue again, we said yes and have been welcoming them in pairs when rooms open up (one lucky girl, Pastry, already found her furever home!). In the month that we’ve had Pretzel we have learned a lot about him, he loves playing with other dogs, wrestling for hours, zooming and leaping into the air with joy. He is very food motivated and will do just about anything for a treat. He loves playing with toys, so much so that he doesn’t want other dogs near them but will let humans take them. Pretzel is a great walker, he really loves cruising around Stamford getting compliments on his looks from everyone he meets. Pretzel is crate trained, house trained and willing to learn all you can teach him. He does like to jump (we’re working on it) so maybe no small children. He was cat tested in Thailand and passed, he showed a bit of interest then decided there were better smells to explore. Pretzel is 11 months old, ~30lbs and fully vetted.
