Medical Needs: Currently on anti-anxiety meds daily. He takes them with ease morning and night in a little bite of peanut butter.

Housebroken: Yes

Crate trained: Yes, goes right in. He will sleep through the night in his crate without making a peep. His crate is his safe-place when new visitors arrive so his forever family should respect that and make sure he has a crate to call his own.

Good in the car: He’s not quite ready for a long road trip yet. In the car he gets anxious and has barked at passing cars, drooled, and paced. It would probably help to have him in a covered crate.

Good on a leash: Loves to go for walks and smell everything, but can be strong for his little self. He does have a harness that will go with him.

Energy level: High. Will need daily walks and fetch sessions with the tennis ball, plus toys and puzzles to keep his brain and body busy.

Need a fenced in yard: Yes, likes to gallop around like a horse to burn off that energy.

Dog Friendly: Yes but he was not taught proper play as a puppy and can be quite overwhelming. However, he is respectful of our older dogs not wanting to play with him.

Does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes?
Not necessary, would be happy to be getting all the attention as an only dog.

Cat Friendly? No, chases kitties.

Kid Friendly: Older kids (10+). Marlin was never taught proper play or received any training as a puppy, as a result he has no manners and his play style is aggressive. He will jump and mouth for attention or while playing, and will need a patient home to work on correcting these behaviors as his fosters have.

Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them?
Marlin is a quirky, sweet little hound with the classic velvety ears that you could pet for days. He could play fetch for hours and loves to explore nature with his inquisitive hound nose. He has already been working to master “sit, “stay”, “release” (the tennis ball), and “place”. His adopter must be dog savvy and ready to put in the work to provide the training he was never given while young

Medical Needs: Heartworm Positive (treatment is covered by the rescue as long as it’s done at one of the vets we work with)

Crate trained: Yes, will whine a bit until he gets tired and settles in fine in like 2 minutes
Good in the car: Yes, but needs to be in crate, will try to climb on your lap
Good on a leash: Pulls and needs his prong collar, does better with each walk. Can be walked with other dogs.
Energy level: Medium Puppy
Need a fenced in yard: Ideally, but he’s a bit of an escape artist. Needs to be watched if it’s not privacy height. He comes right back to you when you call him though. He thinks it’s a game.

Dog Friendly: Yes, he really takes to other dogs
If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? No he would be great with or without other dogs. He relaxes a bit more without the other dog around.

Cat Friendly? Unsure

Kid Friendly: Yes
He jumps a bit and can playfully want your hand in his mouth, never bites, he’s a pup so he’s just goofy. No aggression. Trying to work on him with his chewies. With that in mind eight years old and up would be a good fit.

Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them? Kerbee is a goof, and a sweetie. The second he sees you his whole body starts to wiggle and he starts slapping his little feet like a penguin against the ground.. which Is why he’s near impossible to get a good picture of! He melts in your hands. He loves loves loves to be outside, he’ll just sit out on the deck or gallop around with his favorite toy. We think he looks like Nicolas Cage, but you can be the judge of that. He’d make a great addition to a family with a fenced in yard that can throw the ball around for him. He really just wants to be where you are. This beautiful eyed boy will make a great family dog.

Quinn is such a sweet and loving girl ❤️!! She came to GRR with a load of cargo 🤰🏻. On New Year’s Day she gave birth to 11 beautiful babies. Now that the kids have all been adopted, it’s Quinn’s turn to find the forever family that she so deserves. Not a family like the one she had before. A “family” that put her out like the trash. Thankfully, a kind neighbor saw what was happening and took her in. Unfortunately, she still tried to return to the “home” that she’d always known. Instead of returning her to the kind neighbor whom they knew had been caring for her, they took her and dumped her down a back country road. It took her caring neighbor friend 2 days to find her. He decided a new life, in a new home, far away from her old one was what was best.

Quinn is a country girl thru and thru. She not only likes to chase rabbits 🐇 but she actually caught one 😬 late one night. She snuck it in the house, right past her foster mom, to try and give it to her puppies (good mama!!). She clearly though the dog food was lacking 😂. She loves to lay in the grass and catch some rays 🌞 on warm days. She’d also be up for an adventure to the beach or a hike in the woods. In the house, she can usually be found playing with a toy 🧸 or napping. Napping 😴 on the couch may be her most favorite, so a comfy sofa is a requirement. She’s such a good girl! Someone is going to be soooo lucky 🍀 to have her!!

Milo is very sweet, he loves being with his human and other dogs in his foster home. He would make a great walking companion and does not pull on the leash; very little distracts him. He passes by people and other dogs without hesitation almost as if he is giving a nod of acknowledgement.

He loves belly rubs and back scratches.

Energy level: medium to high. This girl is still a puppy. She loves to play however she has gotten herself into some trouble when she gets too amped up. She is easily corrected. But manners are still a work in progress.

Housebroken: Yes
Crate trained: Yes

Good on leash: with a pinch collar, yes. Still working on it though.
Good in the car: Yes

Fenced in yard: Yes, this is a must. She needs room to run and burn off her energy. She has also been known to dig, so monitored time outside is also needed.

Good with dogs: Yes, she really just wants someone to play with. However, she is a very in your face kind of dog. She doesn’t understand normal dog cues to back off.
Needs another dog: not necessarily, she needs someone to be active with. She would be a great running partner.

Good with kids: unsure. I would suggest kids older than 10 just because of her energy level.

Good with cats: No. she has a high prey drive.

Special Traits: Sadie aims to please. She is a very sweet and loving dog who has great potential. She was returned to Grass Roots recently because of some behavioral issues. With a proper shut down and training, she is turning into a great pup. She still has some learning to do but with the extra time put in, she has so much potential to be the perfect companion. She knows several commands: sit, down, foot, other foot, look at me.

Pretty Girl Ismay wanted to stop in and say "Hey,Hey" 👋🏼!!

Ismay has been a GRR Girl for almost a week now. To say we were a bit concerned when she came in was an understatement....
While at Blue Pearl our girl was put on some heavy duty antibiotics and pain meds to combat the heinous infections riddling her body and equally as important, make it bearable🥺.
An abscess was drained close to the carnassial tooth, which helped a great deal with the swelling. A CT was also performed which showed an infection in the salivary gland which is located behind the cheek bone. This infection is a tricky one because of the location. The Ophthalmologist is unsure if the antibiotics will be able to penetrate the gland...Only time will tell with this piece of the puzzle..😬

After 2 days at Blue Pearl, Ismay was able to be stabilized enough to come home while we gear up for phase two of her treatment plan❤️. She has a follow up with the good doctors at Blue Pearl on the 28th, at which time they'll be able to tell us whether the antibiotics have worked their magic or not 🤞🏼. If the antibiotics aren't enough to kick the infection, the Ophthalmologist will have to operate to drain the infection or remove the gland.

We are of course hoping the antibiotics are enough, but if they aren't, we will make sure she gets everything she needs. Something that is only possible because of the support we get from our #GRRTribe🥰.
