Meet Pete and his dog Gauge. Previously Mulan’s trainer, Pete has his work cut out for him with this strong, young bully boy! We’re gearing up for our next @americankennelclub mock obedience trial in January! We’re so thankful to our friends Aimee and Ken who donate their time to come judge our teams just as if they were really at an AKC sanctioned trial. Videos soon of our dogs in training! They’ll be ready to go home mid to end of January 🐾❤️ Gauge is super dog social & loves all people. Adoption fee $350. Application on our website.
When you are so happy to move into prison because you just came from what you thought was certainly jail (a dog shelter) and now you’re going to have the best new start to life that you’ve ever had! 🐾🙌🏻 Taz was beyond excited to arrive at Prison today! He will be available for adoption at the new year. Keep an eye out for more photos of him and the other dogs that will soon be available! Trust me, if you’re looking to adopt my dogs are worth the wait ❤️ •••• thank you @shelterdogproject for the leash and collar donations, it is always so appreciated. And we are beyond thankful today to the staff at @palmbeachcountyacc for driving Taz and his eight other friends down to us today in #Miami!
Welcome Scout and Gage to the happiest place on earth, prison! 😂
Ironic right? For the dogs, there is no place more loving, more fun, more safe than in the hands of their inmate trainers.
These two handsome boys will be available for adoption at the end of December/early January 2022.
We have more dogs moving into their permanent homes next week, which means more dogs moving into the prison! Turnover time is always bittersweet.
I often wish I could be a fly on the wall the first night when the dogs move into the dog dorm with their new inmate trainers. I wonder what kind of conversations they have. I wonder if they talk about second chances, redemption, and finding their place again in the world.
The summer class of 2021 is slowly making their way into new homes! Here’s Luke meeting his new dad Daniel with trainer Chris. Trainers getting to meet their dogs new human is always so special and bittersweet.
Meet the summer class now available for adoption. Application at magiccityk9.org 🐾❤️🌴

I had to snap the photo because I absolutely loved the juxtaposition of the tattoo sleeve and Frasier’s clean white leg.

Nina - trained dog available for adoption in Miami.
Usually I pick very upbeat happy music for all of my videos! However I wanted some thing a bit more emotional for this one.
Watching this team today, and taking this video, was one of the many experiences that I have a hard time describing.
This dogs trainer, Chris, is an inmate who is new to my program as of January. If I’m being completely honest, I didn’t like him that much! He was a bit too talkative, didn’t seem like he was paying attention, and spent more time telling me about his dog than listening.
But if I’ve learned anything in my decade plus experience working with prison base dog any programs, it’s to never underestimate any of my guys. After all, they are the real reason that I make it out to the prison every week. Working with the dogs is just icing on the cake!
As a certified professional dog trainer for nearly 20 years, I take my work with my guys and dogs at the prison very seriously. I expect a lot, I push them harder and harder every single week to achieve excellence with every single dog.
Would you believe that sometimes I have officers at these institutions tell me “ they don’t do nothing with them dogs.” To which I have to bite my tongue, nod my my head and just keep walking.
What I saw today in evaluating this team is a bond that is undeniable. A trainer who is so committed to the relationship with his dog, that even if I wanted to ignore it I couldn’t.
So yes, in watching this team I felt something. ❤️🐾
if Chris’s family happens to see, I want you to know what a tremendous difference he’s making in the life of another person by training this dog. I want you to know that, almost overnight it seems that he’s become one of the best trainers in my program and it isn’t going unnoticed anymore.
One of the other guys said to me today “ he’s really going to miss that dog when she’s gone. He takes this very seriously and loves that dog a lot.”
It shows.
Bravo team Nina!
Tell me this is not the most gorgeous thing you’ve ever seen ❤️🐾
K9 Bentley and his handler JG. So proud of this team!
What could be better than to adopt a trained dog!?
Bentley and a few of his classmates are still looking for their forever home.
Bagel and his trainer “Bear.” Bagel had a successful home trial this last few days and is officially off the market! ❤️🐾🐶 all of our dogs go through four months of training before they are eligible for adoption. We do our best to make the perfect match so that you and your dog can live happily ever after. Bagel came from @palmbeachcountyacc along with several other dogs we have this class. Bagels new mom says that he is such a gentleman and that his training is fantastic! That’s what we love to hear, and that’s why we do what we do. The dogs that we get in our program are often dogs were having trouble getting adopted. But with training, they become model citizens!
Leash skills are one of the hardest things to train a dog to do! My guys get an A+. What could be better than to adopt a trained dog?! For the most up-to-date list of available dogs please go to our website and click on available dogs.
