Adopt a Cat Foundation had three great adoptions today! Two of them, Sable and Blu, went home with Robyn and Burt, who have been visiting both Blu and Sable for weeks to make the adoption transition go smoothly. Blu is a pretty shy boy, so Burt and Robyn knew he would need to feel safe before going home with them. A few weeks of visiting and loving on him did the trick! They have also been visiting Sable, the softest kitten, who just today got his second of three FVRCP shots, so he is good to go. Burt and Robyn are long time cat parents who, after losing their last cat to cancer, are now ready to love again. We wish this new family many happy years together! ❤

Adopt a Cat Foundation's Cat of the Week is named Charlie. Charlie is around 5 years old and he loves (!) a good belly rub. Or five! Or ten! Or, "just keep going!" Charlie starts out a bit shy, but once he gets to know you he'll be your best buddy, rolling around, begging for belly rubs and cuddles. We’re very lucky at the shelter to meet some really incredible cats. Once in awhile though a cat comes along that is so special your heart feels like it might burst. That’s how we all feel about Goliath, our gentle giant ❤️ Goliath is a senior kitty who has diabetes, therefore he does require two insulin shots a day but he’s such a champ about it. It literally doesn’t take more than a minute to administer. We also suspect he has some arthritis in his hind legs but that doesn’t stop him from climbing up onto any available lap, making himself comfortable and settling in for a snooze. Goliath is beyond a lap cat, he’s basically a cradle like a baby cat. We know there is someone out there that will give this big teddy bear the life that he deserves and we know that once you have him in your life your heart will overflow with love 💗 If you’d like to meet this big love, the shelter is open today 10/25 from 1pm to 5pm or if you know of someone that you think would just love to care for someone like Goliath please pass this information along #teddybear #biglove #adoptdontshop #adoptacat #adoptacatfoundation

"Bond. Lucky Bond!" (He likes his catnip shaken, not stirred!) Look at that masculine swagger in some of these pictures! Lucky is a young male cat around one and a half years old. He came to Adopt a Cat Foundation because his people decided to start a family and they did not factor a cat into the equation. Folks, when you consider adopting a cat, please understand that you are making a 15 to 20 year commitment. Honor that commitment, whether your life changes due to marriage, divorce, children, job transfers, financial distress, etc. Look for housing that accepts pets, or don't get a pet. Your new romantic partner doesn't like cats? Please don't dump your cat! Find a more compatible partner... One who "gets" you and accepts your beloved pets. Seriously. ARGH! Back to Lucky... He may not have felt lucky when he was brought to Adopt a Cat, but he has free reign to climb cat trees by the dozens, run in an exercise wheel, be loved on by dedicated volunteers, etc. But we know he will REALLY be Lucky when the right person or family chooses him as their beloved kitty. Mickey is a GORGEOUS, SWEET, TOTAL LOVEBUG!!! This 3-year-old male has absolutely NO tail! Manx cats are cats without tails, and cats without even a stub are known as Rumpy Manx. Manx cats are known to be very affectionate, loyal and intelligent cats. Some say they are "dog-like." Adopt a Cat Foundation recently rescued Mickey and two other adults and three kittens from Sunrise Humane Society on the Treasure Coast. They were severely over capacity, with crates of unwanted pets on top of other crates. They put out a plea to rescues to take some cats so they wouldn't have to resort to euthanasia. Adopt a Cat was happy to take the maximum amount we could house at the time.

Normally I don't post photos of our cats or kittens with their adopters until enough time has passed and we are confident that the match was a life long love connection, but I have no qualms about posting that TODAY Stubby went home with a WONDERFUL couple, Raine and Roger!!! This uber-sweet duo adopted black & white kittens Angie and Olivia from us in April and they spoil them rotten! Roger built them a couple of catios! They renamed Angie "Maci" and Olivia "Mika" and they have another cat Murphy. Now Stubby joins their family as "Mu Shu." Aren't they just the cutest family?!? All of us at Adopt a Cat will reaalllly miss Stubby, but we know that good things come to those who wait and he will have an incredible life with his new siblings and mom and dad!
