๐พ CALLING ALL FREDDIEโS SUPPORTERS! ๐พ
We have a microchip day set up with a local business, thanks to the fantastic efforts of two friends who spearhead the Lost & Found groups in the area and help reunite pets with their owners. This is the first of many coming up, and weโre hoping to expand on them to include vaccines and perhaps spay/neuter when we can.
Iโm SO excited, as all funds raised go back to Freddieโs and into our Community Cat projects โ spay/neuter for seniors, disabled individuals, and those on government assistance, plus TNR for the numerous requests I get for help for out of control colonies.
This microchipping day helps get more pets chipped and then reunited with their owners, and thus reduces the burden on our county shelter, as they are now facing having to euthanize and are taking in 15-20 animals daily with almost none going out except a few of us rescues and then some transports up North. This also helps said local rescues who are equally as overburdened. The South is STILL drowning in dogs and cats, and the shelter here has taken in more pigs than ever before.
Hereโs where you come in!
I need to order several more boxes of microchips, and this is hundreds of dollars we just donโt have in the rescue till. If everyone reading this can pitch in $5 or $10, we can get them ordered and hopefully put together 100 (I have some already) to ensure we have enough as the initial response from the public has been huge. We also need clipboards for forms, and a few minor office things (paper, pens, folders).

Freddieโs โ
desperatelyโ
needs funds.
We currently have absolutely nothing in our PayPal and Venmo accounts, negative balances on both the main rescue billing account and the community/TNR billing account at work. All veterinary care, food, litter, meds, formula, supplies, etc. are being paid for out of our personal pockets for the kittens and cats in our care.
HOWEVER, we have a chance to change that!
Venmo is giving $500 each to 500 registered Venmo business accounts who receive at least 10 payments by September 6th. These 10 payments only need to be $5 each at minimum, and they can come from the same person as long as they are each a separate payment. So for a mere $50 (10
donations of $5 each), you all can help us enter to win $500 โ which would be an IMMENSE help for us!

Had a good samaritan bring me an injured cat they found last night (or rather, who found them). Such a sweet, gentle young boy, around 10-12 months old. Unfortunately heโd been shot with a shotgun, the massive wound area abscessed and the tissue became severely necrotic and sloughed off leaving exposed tissue and bone. He was anemic, white as a ghost, septic, and severely malnourished. We had no choice but to let him be at peace. He gave me so many kisses and cheek rubs, and I petted his face and head and told him what a good boy he was.
This cat was clearly someoneโs pet and did not deserve such vile cruelty. I have seen this so many times in the 6 years Iโve lived here, and it continues to anger me more and more. The hatred toward cats, the view of them as vermin, etc. Sweet boy had no microchip, unfortunately, but the people who found him are networking to hopefully find his owner if he has one.
Hug your babies tightly today. My heart is a little bit more broken.
UPDATE ON โ๐ฆ๐ฃ๐จ๐โ: This adorable little man is doing so great! He is still at the end of knocking out the respiratory infection he came in with, but he doesnโt let it slow him down at all. His eye is all better, he has filled out and grown a TON, and is now a healthy, happy baby. Heโs had his first FDRTC vaccination, NEMEX dewormer, and will be ready for his next vaccine booster in one more week. Once he hits 12 weeks, he will be neutered, microchipped, vaccinated for Rabies, and ready to go!
Spud has been doing very well with socialization, and our older foster kittens are doing amazing with teaching him how to be a good, well-mannered kitty. Orphans and singletons often lack the ability to learn the important social behaviors that a kitten normally learns from their littermates and their mother, and this can create behavioral issues later. So whenever possible, I introduce orphaned babies to other fosters or my own personal cats, who do a fantastic job at being playmates, chew toys, groomers, teachers, and disciplinarians, and are able to communicate lessons and skills to these little ones that shape them into well-rounded teenagers. They hone their physical skills through play and chase, but also learn critical social cues and manners, such as bite inhibition and appropriate places to potty or scratch/climb, by observing and copying their mentors. Our resident foster duo, Tater and Penny, are teaching Spud all the important things โ and letting him beat up on them a bit, with unbelievable patience for his shenanigans. LOL!
Spud is a very clever and very silly boy, but also super sweet and snuggly, and I have a feeling he will be a LOT of fun for some very lucky family! ๐๐พ
Spudโs doing amazing! Renee Banks, you saved his life! His eye is already better and heโs doing very well with the ointment being put in twice per day. Doesnโt even notice. Heโs the sweetest little man, super snuggly, and will be a great cat for someone!
When our doorbell rings randomly at 6pm, we already know what it probably is!
Meet โSpudโ โ A sweet 5-week-old little orange tabby boy that one of our neighbors saved from the middle of the road on their way home today. Poor little thing was just lying there, then walked up to them when they stopped. He is skinny, very weak, had a million fleas, and obviously has some mild conjunctivitis, but otherwise seems well. He got a warm bath, some fluids, and some slurry via syringe to start him off. Hopefully heโll perk up and start eating on his own. He purrs while being petted, and is very comfortable with people. Since we currently have an older orange boy available for adoption named โTaterโ, and the neighbor who found him also has a boy kitty named Tater, we thought it was only fitting that we named him Spud. ๐
I hate kitten season with a vehement passion. Kitten season after COVID 2020 is like some nightmare dystopia.
These little nuggets were left in a box outside our veterinary hospital and found when we opened Monday morning. When we checked the cameras, we found that someone had pulled up and left them at midnight the night prior. They had left an expensive umbrella over them to protect them, which was interesting. They had fleas, were very dirty, covered in feces, and SUPER skinny and sickly. They had clearly been found by these people, and given how shelters and rescues here and full and refusing new intakes, had nowhere else for them to go. While I wish theyโd brought them to one of the 3 24-hour ER hospitals here, at least they brought them *somewhere* safe and had the forethought to protect them from the elements. My husband texts me at 8:30 to tell me about them, and luckily had a short surgery day due to flying out that afternoon, and brought them home.
The 2 black ones are girls, the pointed one is a boy. He is much worse off than his sisters, and while he has greatly improved over the past 24 hours, heโs far from out of the woods yet. All 3 babies are 12 days old, with open eyes and ears, yet the size of 2-3 day olds. The largest weighed only 110g. They are so fragile and have a long recovery ahead.
Meet Jack, Janet, and Chrissy โ Threeโs Company!

Freddieโs has the chance to get this brand new running wheel for the common area at a VERY good deal! Our goal has always been to add one to increase exercise, but theyโre normally so expensive that it seemed like a distant wish. The lady is a Vet Tech up in Nashville and is holding this for us until we get the $200 raised, which is super awesome!!! Please help make this a reality for our small space!
As always, Freddieโs is a GA licensed 501(c)3 nonprofit and every single rescue, medical case, or bit of construction is funded solely from small donations and our own personal pockets. While we do have the advantage of also being their veterinary team and thus saving some overhead, there are still costs for supplies, drugsQ, sterile tools and products, fluids, hospitalization, etc. Plus the usual food, litter, toys, blankets, cleaning supplies, etc. of a rescue.
All donations submitted automatically provide a receipt for tax purposes.
If you can spare even $10, it goes a VERY long way toward our goal!
