This is Ryno’s friendly public service announcement remaining everyone to dress warmly because it’s REALLY cold outside!
Ryno is our senior boy who is around 10 ½ years old and was diagnosed in August 2020 with Adenocarcinoma of the anal sac and enlarged sublumbar lymph nodes. In September of 2020, it was confirmed that the cancer was in the lymph nodes and not operable without significant risk of death. Ryno underwent palliative radiation and chemo, concluding those treatments in February 2021. In July 2021, he began to lose some weight, had elevated liver values and proteinuria, further tested reveled that he had also had chronic kidney disease. He was put on meds for the kidneys. Ryno had his quarterly cancer checkup recently and there is currently no evidence of progressive disease and his chemistry values were improved from his last internal medicine appt on the 9th of September.
So, all in all, while he is not cancer free and has kidney disease, he is holding his own. A huge shout out to Ryno’s favorite volunteer Jennifer Dee Pollack, without her we could not provide the outstanding care that Ryno receives. Ryno also has skin allergies and it has been increasing difficult to manage, so Jen ensures that Ryno gets regular baths and lots of love.
If you’re able to help contribute to Ryno’s care or perhaps new PJs from @pittieclothing because Ryno gets cold easily nowadays. Everything is always greatly appreciated! You can donate on our Facebook page, no fees are taken for nonprofits, our website under the donate icon or PayPal/Zelle with the email Info@HeddMutt.com.

SAVE THE DATE - GIVING TUESDAY IS AROUND THE CORNER!
Giving Tuesday is “a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organisations to transform their communities and the world.”
At HMF, we’re going to start a new tradition that will happen on Tuesdays. Tuesdays will be for transformations and updates where we get to show you the life-changing difference your donations make in the lives of the animals we rescue. We’re a smaller foster based bully breed rescue that focus on taking dogs that have been left behind. Meaning dogs that may have behavior issues, lack socializing, need medical or those dogs that other rescue don’t have room for.
Every year, we treat, medicate, rescue, and rehabilitate dogs that sometimes end up with us for months if not years, and it’s all made possible because of your support. We also take on larger cases meaning an entire course of chemotherapy, major surgery, or months of rehabilitation, every donation has the potential to completely change a life.
Giving Tuesday comes around only once a year, but every Tuesday can be a Transformation Tuesday with your help!
Save the date to give back to the dogs of HMF on Tuesday, 30th November!
*HMF is a 501(c)(3) rescue so ALL donations are tax deductible.
#GivingTuesday #EveryDonationCounts #TransformationTuesday
🚨FOSTERS NEEDED - BEEN SEARCHING FOR OVER 30 DAYS🚨
If you’ve ever considered fostering, please fill out an application TODAY! We can’t help more dogs without fosters so please help if you can, share this post to your friends and family, or even donate to help with vetting.
Bonnie and Clyde are currently being held at a local animal control after being found tied to a fence. The white one is female and brown is the male, both are around 10 months old we believe. Both are very friendly, Bonnie enjoys attention while Clyde doesn’t seek it out but still enjoys his time with humans.
All interactions with other dogs at animal control have been good, HMF would consider fosters with other dogs BUT we do require a decompression period for dogs coming out of animal control. Both would NOT do well with cats and have had NO testing with children at this time.
PLEASE consider fostering, fill out an application here: https://www.heddmutt.com/foster-information. If you have any questions please email: Valerie@HeddMutt.com

It is with an extremely heavy heart that we tell you our beyond sweet, goofy and most definitely loved Goose passed away. We’re absolutely heartbroken. Even knowing that he was living on borrowed time we were not ready for him to leave use.
Goose has been with HMF for about 5 years, due to his Blasto he had been a foster with the owners of the rescue from the beginning. Goose had a VERY special place in our hearts and was loved fiercely every day.
We would like to say thank you to everyone at @riverviewveterinaryclinic and @metroanimalservice for taking such great care of Goose and HMF during this difficult time. To everyone who has followed his journey and donated to his ongoing care, thank you for being there for us.
Until we see you again Goose ♥️
We would like to take a moment and thank our volunteer @chrislynn28 for recommending HMF for a grant from DuPage Medical Group Charitable Fund of DuPage Foundation!
All rescues have been feeling the effects this past year now going on two from COVID, fundraising has been EXTREMELY difficult so this grant has been a HUGE lifesaver for us.
Thank you for your support ♥️

Our goofy Goose absolutely loves cleaning day around here. He knows he gets to go outside and watch the geese while we clean up his area then he returns to all clean stuff which he proceeds to smell and rearrange everything. Most of all he likes coming back inside to his favorite @happyhowies. It’s the one thing even on his bad days that he will never turn down to eat.
Many of you may know Gooses story but for those of you who don’t. Goose has been with us since 2015 and has had a medical issue the entire time. In 2016, he became very ill and almost died due to pulmonary complications from Blasto. Goose tested Blasto positive again this past June, then in July he began to have some difficulty breathing after going up the stairs, but as we had started back on Itraconazole, it was assumed it was Blasto related and would subside in a few weeks of treatment. It did not, then he began to retain fluid. Goose was hospitalized as he also had a fainting episode. He was diagnosed with Dilated Cardiomyopathy, ventricular arrhythmia and is in congestive heart failure. Goose has been stabilized with medications and is sassy and happy. He is seen regularly to ensure that the med combo is working for him. Due to Gooses condition we work to keep him as calm and quite as possible as sudden death is on his potential prognosis list.
We know the last year and a half has not been easy for anyone. It has been extremely difficult on many small rescues who only survive on public donations. HMF had 2 VERY large medical dogs right now plus day to day care for 14 dogs, and just the ongoing basic medical bills for those dogs.
So PLEASE donate if you can BUT you can absolutely share this post to help spread the word, invite your friends and family to the HMF page to keep up with Gooses story.
