Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Alabama
A gateway to decent and affordable housing since 2000.
To eliminate substandard housing in Northwest Alabama (Fayette, Franklin, Lamar, Marion & Winston Counties) and to make simple, decent, affordable housing a matter of conscience for all.
Through a committed effort of individuals in our community, Habitat for Humanity of Marion County received its official affiliation in December, 2000. Habitat for Humanity of Marion County had been established and broke down the walls and barriers between the various communities and individuals of different backgrounds and races from around the county. The small board of directors worked together to build one home per year until the tornadoes of April 2011 that impacted our area and focus. In August of 2012, our organization was approved by Habitat for Humanity International to expand to cover the Northwest Alabama counties of Fayette, Franklin, Lamar, Marion (our founding county) and Winston. Our new name, Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Alabama, reflects this change. We are very pleased to now offer the citizens of these additional counties the opportunity for decent housing. Also, through our tithe to Habitat International Global Build, we have built homes for qualified partner families in Guatemala, Coast d'Ivoire and Romania.
