Some dogs come with medical conditions and those dogs tend to be overlooked for adoption :( They are GREAT dogs if given a chance, they can prove it to you! They are extra appreciative of love and care you would give them. The bond between you and them would be strong and special. They just want to be noticed! Just asking for a chance to be part of your life. Consider getting know these guys! They are truly special!

Please come join us for our open house this Saturday, June 26th from 10:00-2:00 at 8556 Davis Road, Columbia, MD 21045! We would love for the community to take a look at the current condition of the property so that everyone can get a good understanding of its present state. Everyone will have free access to anywhere on the property. Our leadership and volunteers will answer your questions about our future plans. We will also have refreshments, some giveaways, and some logo merch available for purchase! We hope to see you there!

Little Miss Mabel is still looking for her forever home!! 🤗🐾 She is a total love bug who is the sweetest girl ever! Mabel is quiet in her kennel, loves playing fetch and is always ready for an adventure! She has not been in foster care yet so we do not know if she is house trained but Mabel does a good job at keeping her kennel clean and is not destructive when left alone in our training room or shelter office. Mabel is polite when passing dogs on walks and has successfully made friends with one male dogs at the shelter, other unsuccessful attempts at making canine friends makes us think she’d prefer to be an only dog! Meet Zeek! This sweet boy is almost 2 yrs old and he REALLY knows how to work the puppy dog eyes! 🥺💓 Zeek is a great mix of spunk and chill! He loves going for walks and playing with other dogs but he is also happy to sit with you and snuggle! Zeeks hind end sort of has a mind of its own, when he walks he is a bit wobbly! He has been examined by a neurologist who found no abnormalities in the MRI, we believe it is due to a congenital anomaly. It does not require any extra medical care and Zeek lives pain free without any maintenance! Zeek hopes his wobbly walk doesn’t turn you away! Meet Wade! This handsome boy is around 2 yrs old and is sweet as they come! He is good with dogs and people of all sizes, a super star in his crate and an all around very happy go lucky dog! He loves going for walks but needs to work on not pulling as much, like all dogs he would benefit from a basic manners class! If Wade sounds like a good fit for you/your family please apply to meet him! Warning: he has so much love to give that he might knock tiny kiddos over (out of love of course)!

Martin went from happy go lucky to lifeless and fighting for his life in an very short period of time, we are lucky to have gotten him to the hospital when we did. It has now been just over a week since Martins hospital stay began, for the first time we finally have good news! Martin is showing some improvement! 🐾💓 He is starting to eat on his own and the pneumonia is starting to clear up. He still has a great deal of healing ahead of him, but we are optimistic about his future! There was some concern about how his heart did through all of this so he had an echocardiogram that showed some possible concerns. We will be having him seen by a cardiologist once he is recovered from his other health issues. Your donation towards Martin's recovery will pay for his ER bills and his appointment with the cardiologist. An echocardiogram is $550! He is the best boy ever, so sweet and loving! All of the doctors and vet tech's have fallen in love with him! Your donation in any amount will go 100% to Martin's care. We can’t wait to see Martin back to his wiggly happy self!

Martin Needs your help!

This wonderful 6 month old pup came to us with his brother and both appeared happy and healthy. But within a few days, sweet little Martin became extremely ill. We took him immediately to our vet who started him on fluids, but he needed to be transferred to the ER for continued care.

Martin will be in the ER for a while longer until he stabilizes - but at this point in time his bills are already almost $5000.

Say Hello to the momma of the year, Sage, and her sweet pups! These pups needed some special care at the beginning, and not only did Sage do an amazing job with raising them - but she even ended up 'adopting' another pup who lost her mom and still needed to be nursed 😍

Some stories really tug at your heart strings, Thor (formally known as Riffles) is definitely one of those! 🥺💓 He came to CHN from an overcrowded shelter in early December, when he arrived he was clearly emaciated with a terrible skin condition. He spent a few weeks at our shelter gaining weight, getting his skin on the right track, and letting us get to know him. When he was ready Thor quickly found his dream family, he is continuing to gain weight while learning about life outside of the shelter! We are so grateful for our CHN shelter staff, fosters and adopters who make saving dogs like Thor possible! 💓💓
