We are looking for someone willing to donate their time to help us draft a business plan. This person will work with our team to get or find relevant data and build a stellar packet we can present.
What types of data?
The state does not recognize privately own shelters/pounds, if privately owned they are classified as a “kennel”.
1. What does the state require for a kennel/shelter (different rooms/areas)?
1.a. What are some other shelters in the area doing with their space?
2. Cost of a suitable “buy” plus reno to meet state reqs vs new construction
3. Cost analysis of what it would take to run/maintain such a place. (Per cat/dog, general costs)
4. Add-ons (rooms/areas/building) for businesses to generate revenue utilizing that space
4.a. e.g Groomer, Pet Supply Store, Boarding/Kennel, Veterinarian
4.b. analysis of what each of these “extra” businesses could generate
In our last city council meeting we tried to illustrate that animal control was a municipality first responsibility. We got in to this because we love animals and want to help them. We love our community and we want our community to feel comfortable with the animals and reduce the number of strays. We got involved because our officials have dropped the ball and kicked it down the road for far too long.
However, at our last meeting they came back at us to do all this research to present. While I am certain there are city personnel whose job it is to research the needs for these municipality responsibilities. We are willing to do the work ourselves to make this a reality.
This is where YOU come in. We’ve been at this for 1 year & a half. We think we have a solid understanding of the costs, as well as various revenue & fundraising options to make this self-sustaining. We need someone whom can take this information, find where we lack information, and focus it in to a plan that can be printed, bound distributed and presented.

"Have you seen my people?" This little (boy?) Was found tonight near the Legion.. He was very hungry. A little wary of people but was approachable and able to be picked up.
