Host Update for the gorgeous gal, Gladys:

"This weekend, I hosted the sweet Gladys. She was a delight! She is so sweet and became more playful as she settled in. She doesn't seem used to being indoors much, but learned quickly that outdoors is her restroom. She was cat curious and I think after some time, she'd do well with them! She wanted to be outside as much as possible, so a home with a fenced in backyard would make her oh so happy. She will need some patience and guidance, especially on the leash, and overall I loved having her!! I think the copious amounts of love and food that we gave her helped her come out of her shell quickly 🥰"

Decatur's host family has lots of great feedback from their sleepover weekend to help his perfect family find him:

"Decatur was a lovely boy this weekend. He really came out of his shell Sunday and was a very happy and playful boy. He learned how to sit this weekend and is working on lay down and come here. He is very responsive to whistles for recall. He is very people-oriented and will do anything for a good rub of his ears! His second favorite things are treats and chasing small animals 😂We have cats and chickens and both made him very curious! We worked a little on the cats, and tried to get his attention elsewhere with some success (recall with treats) and by Sunday was much better about just watching the cats. If his future family has small animals, Decatur will benefit from gentle introductions and consitency. He was perfectly fine with our larger dog, and while he played a few times, Decatur much preferred the company of people! His favorite thing to play with was a squeaky tennis ball.

Given his smaller size and how much he loves to snuggle and be pet on his head, I can imagine he’d love a home with kids. He sat very quietly in the car and walked well on a leash. He had no accidents in the house and did very well in a larger crate. No bad habits to report. Overall, Decatur is a sweetheart that wants all the attention you could give him without being a high energy or needy dog. He would make a wonderful addition to any family, is happy to go exploring or just to snuggle with you at home, and will be by your side no matter what you're doing. He is going to make someone an awesome companion!"

Host Update for Greylock!!

Greylock was a delight to have around. The ears! The tongue! The paws!

Being a tri-pawed pup didn't stop Greylock from having fun. He interacted well with other dogs of all sizes. He really wants to meet them ALL, but just to sniff them, unless the dog shows they want to play. I brought him to an outdoor workout and he's not a great partner for planking (unless you like them weighted 😂) but he likes to run a little bit! He has good leash manners too. I tried to keep him out and about for the exposure and he did well in all situations: brewery, bottle shop, Umstead park, etc. but he also enjoyed just curling up on my ottoman and falling asleep.

Greylock slept through the night just fine (occasionally woke up to take care of some itches), but of course I spoiled him a bit by letting him sleep in the bed. He is VERY food motivated, so eating food around him was more like a game of keep away.

Greylock would be a great buddy for hanging out, chilling in, and everything in between and with those ears, he's hard to resist.

Host Update for the adorable love bug, Presley!!

"This weekend I hosted Presley, and he was such a good dog! Initially he was a little nervous, but he quickly warmed up to our dogs within minutes. He interacts so well with other dogs and people once he is comfortable, always down to play or go on walks! He also enjoys cuddling and lounging around! He's an all-around guy who can't wait to find his forever family!"

Prentiss is a fun little gal with so much love & joy, and had a blast on her host weekend sleepover! See what her host family said:

"If there is a family out there looking for a dream dog, they need look no further than Prentiss. During our host weekend she has been a perfect house guest. She is a sweet, gentle girl with the best temperament. We love the way her little tail wags with excitement & happiness anytime you give her even the slightest bit of attention. She has been great with our kids (aged 10 and 12). They have been loving all over and she seems to truly enjoy all the attention. She loves to play, but also will snuggle right up next to you. She can couch potato it with you, but she seems to be much happier out and about. She would do best with a fenced in yard as she loves the outdoors and to sniff ALL THE THINGS. On our walks she wanted to say hello to every person, dog, squirrel, bird, and rabbit! She needs some more leash training, but once trained she'll be the best little jogging/hiking buddy. She's a great car rider - she looks out the window and just hangs out until you reach your destination. She seems to be potty trained as she had zero accidents. She chewed on a Kong, but other than that she's not a chewer, not a digger, and not a barker.

On the first night we learned that she wants to be the VERY last one to bed. She easily went in her crate, but she heard people moving around and lights on and had a little FOMO! She settled right down after everyone was in bed, slept throughout the night and didn't make a peep until people got up (around 7am). She is not a picky eater and she completely gobbles up her food. She wasn't territorial or aggressive when around food. She very gently takes treats (and medicine) from your hand and LOVES peanut butter. She sits by your feet at the table when people are eating but doesn't whine, bark, or beg. She just looks at you with those gorgeous brown puppy eyes hoping just maybe there is something that you'd share with her."

Thank you to our friends at @f45_training_northraleigh for raising money and donating supplies for Saving Grace! On Saturday some of our sweet foster puppies joined them for a morning workout (and lots of snuggles) and their members and coaches brought in supplies and donated money which will go towards the care of our dogs. @PetManiaNC also donated a gift basket which was raffled off with proceeds going to Saving Grace. Thanks so much for your generosity and support of our mission!! 💪 🐶

The Saving Grace dogs and pups lead the 2021 Raleigh, NC Christmas parade! Raising awareness for homeless animals and the need for adoption, these show stoppers represented just how great shelter animals are. The crowd consistently cheered for the dogs and many pets and hugs were shared along the way. Thank you to Leith Cars for sponsoring the parade and inviting the Saving Grace dogs to be a part of the event. May many underdogs find themselves in a home this Holiday Season

We are seeking donations of wire crates!!! We are in greatest need of medium to large crates (~36-42" lengths). These crates are important for families hosting dogs through our Host-a-Dog Sleepover program and those fostering dogs through our foster program. If you have any used crates that you wish to donate or would like to give new crates, please drop them at the donation shed at the Saving Grace farm!
