** ISO: Volunteers **
We are excited to let everyone know we will be looking for more people to come out and work with the dogs starting in December. We have two openings and would be pleased to welcome some new faces to our team.
With a few exceptions, the dog schedule looks somewhat like this:
8am – 10am. Walk, feed, clean everyone. Put some dogs into outside kennels.
10am – 1pm (Dog Nap Time, People Lunch Time, Grooming Appointments)
1pm – 3pm. Inter-Dog Play Groups. Training time; application of individually created training programs designed to address each dog's needs.
3pm – 5pm. (Dog Nap Time, People Email and Phone Call Time)
5pm – 7pm. (or 6pm to 8pm). Walk, feed, clean everyone. Bring anyone who is outside back inside. Vet Visits if on Vet days.
8pm – 8am. (Dog Bed Time, People Dinner Time)
Of course, if the weather turns or it is too hot/cold/windy/rainy then we bring everyone inside who is out. It’s not fair to leave them out when it is inclement weather.
One of the things we do at Outrun is teach our dogs life skills. Some of these skills include being walked, held, brushed, bathed and dried. Vet visits can be stressful for everyone so we work to relieve some of that stress. We practice vet holds with positive reinforcement so that these types of things become “normal”.
Grooming appointments are scheduled around the salon’s clients at @TailsAreWagging in Everett. We try to fit the dogs all in for a wash/dry/trim as long as they are behaviorally capable of accepting the handling required. If they are not able to receive a full groom then this is built into their individual training program.
Vet visits are scheduled at the kennel twice weekly unless we need to send the dogs into the clinic for special needs (specialist consults, surgical, xrays, or testing).
Please contact us at info@outrunrescue.com if you are interested in volunteering. We are staggering visits due to COVID and social distancing. Let us know what you think would be best for your interests and we will do our best to accommodate.

Hi. My name is Chip. I like to think of myself as Mr. Chip, but everyone around here just calls me Chip - or Chipperdoo. I'm looking for a home. I got lost, you see, a few months ago and the Canine Control people picked me up so that I wouldn't get hit by a car. I'm glad they kept me safe. Unfortunately, my owners didn't claim me and so, I found myself in the rescue world, one of thousands of dogs looking for a new home.
It's really hard to be a dog looking for a home these days. Especially when you are a black dog or a type of dog with a "bad rep". My friend, Burton is like that (he's a chowchow and most people think they are scary even though we call him a big teddy bear!).
I hope I don't have a "bad rep", but I am not what is considered a "highly adoptable colour". Maybe one day people will know that it doesn't matter what is on the outside but what is on the inside that counts.
I hear that there are so many dogs looking for homes that some places have to "make space" for new dogs. Don't worry - Outrun won't do that. They say I can stay as long as I need and while I am here, we will keep working on my training.
Our trainer says funny things about how when animals get onto the Outrun ARC they could even stay long enough to wait out a flood!
The vet says she thinks I am about 2 years old and a Doberman mix. I think I am exactly old enough to know that I won't get any taller but I may get a little stronger as my muscles mature.
The people here at OARC are fun and the volunteers who come visit me are nice ... but ... I sure would like my own people one day.
If you have a space in your family for me, please fill out a form on https://outrunrescue.com/dog-application.

TRIXIE- FOSTER HOME UPDATE
"Trixie continues to do well over here. She is really smart and affectionate and loves being around people.
Her housetraining skills are evident now that she has settled in, and she’s gotten quite good at scratching at the back door when she needs to go out.
She’ll also go into the crate on her own now to relax, but is it not a fan of having the door closed. We’re continuing to work on that. We’re also keeping an eye on her desire to take “trinkets” into her crate that she collects around the house. Lol.
Here are some photos of her from the first day (at your place) through to now.
I think she’ll be a welcome addition to someone’s home- especially if they like to cuddle."

KITTENS !!!!
Outrun Rescue has Kittens!!!!
As of this coming weekend, October 23 and October 24, Outrun Rescue will have 10 kittens looking for their new forever homes. These guys have been with us from a young age so they are very well socialized. They would be great with dogs, cats, and kids. We have 2 groups one is around 8 weeks old, and the other group is about 12 weeks old. All of them have been vet checked, nails clipped, microchipped, have had the first booster, and of course come with $100 voucher to go towards their spay or neuter at a vet of your choice.
Please feel free to reach out via text or call to our cat coordinator Santanna if you have any questions, would like further information or would like to set up a time to meet some adorable kittens. Santanna can be reached at 647-269-2777.

Lacey is accepting applications for adoption. As she is resting from her tail amputation surgery tomorrow, she will be keeping a close eye on her emails and hoping that one of them might be from her new family.
Lacey is a 5 month old Black Labrador cross. She loves her cuddle time and gets along well with both animals and people. She has been working hard on learning house training and basic obedience with her foster home.
On arrival, Lacey had a broken tail. Our vet team recommended that amputation was the best choice for Lacey based on the damage. Tomorrow she is going for surgery! Wish her a speedy recovery.

Brittany is so excited to pose for her adoption photo, her tail won't stop wiggling! You can see her settled into her foster home in these pictures.
Brittany is a 3 month old lab cross puppy who is looking for her new home. She is good with other animals but since she is a goofy puppy who hasn't had much training yet, she doesn't know that she should always keep 4 on the floor yet! She is still learning.
If you would like to offer Brittany a home, you can complete an application at https://outrunrescue.com/dog-application.
