💙Pocket Pit Alert💙 This young male Pit Bull mix is full of energy and life! An absolute sweetheart, DJ is affectionate and loves people. He is currently living at South Pacific County Humane Society in Long Beach WA, after being transferred from a different shelter following an unsuccessful adoption placement.
DJ has been refining his skill at walking on a leash, he gets so excited about going for a walk he bounces around to start with! However this stops when he gets into the walk. He does well on a harness and also has some experience with a head harness. While he relishes playtime, DJ needs a balance of play & exercise, AND boundaries & consistency. With just play time, this little boy has the capacity to go into a real spin and he will find it hard to calm down again. With boundaries and direction, he can be very well behaved! Structured play and games where he has to think will be important for DJ, as he is very smart and needs use his grey matter!
DJ is a favorite with the volunteers and staff at the shelter! Volunteer dog walker Kay says, ‘DJ is so many things. He’s smart and funny, sweet and a goofball! He’s a good boy and will be a great addition to whoever adopts him!’
Due to his exuberance DJ would be best in a home without small children. He would also be best placed in a home where he is the only dog. DJ is a very handsome boy with a lovely shiny coat. He is also a love bug, and wants to both be loved and show you that he loves you too! At 35 lbs he is certainly a pocket pit! If DJ sounds like the pup for you, please complete follow the link below to complete an application, stating DJ is the dog you are in interested in:

🧡ADOPT ME - Clackamas County Dog Services in Portland, Oregon — “BUBBLES” is a 1 year old Pit Bull Type dog . She has been waiting 124 days at the shelter for her forever family. PLEASE SHARE!
She is a happy and excitable young gal weighing in at about 60 pounds. She ADORES her ball and gently releases it when she brings it back to you during a long game of ball toss. Bubbles would love a home that has experience and love for her breed and will be an advocate for her, including continuing her training to help her be the best girl she can be! Staff have been working to encourage calm behaviors, keeping all four feet on the floor, and encouraging good leash manners. She can be a strong puller, but staff can help you with a training protocol to help you and Bubbles grow together!
Bubbles would love a new family who can dedicate resources to her continued training, as well as one that can provide both physical and mental enrichment. 1) Bubbles is not a dog for a first time dog owner, as she requires an experienced owner who will continue her training and provide her with adequate mental and physical exercise. 2) Bubbles is a muscular gal, and should not be in a home with any children under the age of 13 years old due to her excitability and size. 3) We aren't sure how Bubbles will be with cats or other small animals. She really enjoys chasing and holding a ball which can be a sign of high prey drive. Be sure to talk to staff about appropriate introductions and training techniques if small animals will live with Bubbles. 4) Bubbles would flourish in a home where all the attention is on her and may do best as an only dog. Like most adult dogs, Bubbles can be selective about her dog friends, and it will take a special kind of dog for Bubbles to be okay cohabitating with. If you have another dog, please be sure to talk with your adoption counselor about their personality, so that they can make sure Bubbles would be okay with your dog.

*Courtesy Post* ❤️ Baba is a little under two years old, and has the sweetest face. Baba was transferred to @oregoncoasthumanesociety.ochs from California where she was scheduled to be Euthanized, in June of 2021. She is very playful and a love bug. She loves long walks on the beach and is a dream on a leash. She is a little shy and needs a family who can be patient with her and let her warm up to them. She has been with another dog and did great, so with the right dog she should fit right in. We all love her here at the shelter and are looking to find her her forever home soon! For more information call 541-997-4277 or email info@oregoncoasthumanesociety.org
Sweet Star is looking for a home! This 1 year old girl is smart and funny. A beautiful color with a lovely face to match, Star is a total sweetheart. She loves to run and play. Star is great with other dogs, though sometimes does not realize she has an off switch - she just wants to play and play and play! She is also really good with people, affectionate and loving. There would be no concerns about having her in a home with children, in fact she would make a wonderful companion. Star does not have a mean bone in her body! She has the softest coat and is great to snuggle with. Star has spent most of her short life at the shelter. 😢 Adored by volunteers and staff alike, she is certainly a favorite. Star has a chronic lung condition which requires daily medication. Most of the time this does not inhibit her love of life, in fact having a good run or play with another pup seems to help. Somedays she will not be so great, and will need to rest more. What will be important for the person or family who adopt / foster Star is that they watch out for any signs of her condition exacerbating and take her directly to the vet. The shelter who have Star will do a fundraiser to help support any future medical costs once an adopter is found. One area Star will need a little work on is toilet-training. As she has lived most of her life in the shelter she needs to get the hang this! But she is smart and food-motivated, so with some training this should not be a problem. Star is a unique pup. While her health condition means she needs some extra care, she is spirited and full of life. She would be a great addition to anyone's life! Star is currently at South Pacific County Humane Society in Long Beach WA www.beachpets.com. Fee is $150
Sasha Pupdate: “Hi! She is doing so so well. We have one more session left on our package with the Dog Adventures NW trainer and she said the improvements she’s seen have been great since we started working with her! The last session last weekend she brought a partner dog so we started working on dog-dog desensitization. I also had some cousins in town this weekend and they were completely smitten. We rearranged our furniture and put a bench in the window and Sasha will sit there for hours watching the world go by. She’s honestly one of the best, sweetest dogs I’ve been around in my life. So smart and driven, and yes sometimes crazy and stubborn, but just so so sweet. She sleeps in her crate (and even puts herself to bed most of the time!) but we are able to leave her uncrated when we’re out and she’s perfectly fine. The construction guys that are working on our deck call her ShaSha the Celebrity lol.“
Happy 2 year Gotcha day to our most famous pup @seriously.rhonda! Here’s what her mom wrote about her…. “Dear rondog, you came into my life so unexpected and I never would guessed what I’d be getting myself into. I was told you were mellow, timid, and slow to love but you quickly showed me otherwise. Two years ago on this day you decided to give the whole town a heart attack and take off for the woods. I thought you were a goner and that a failed to be a good foster. Somehow after barely having known my home and me you found your way home. So casually, so unphased, like nothing ever happened. It’s the night I knew you chose me as your human, and bear as your sister… but more importantly- that I was in for a wild f**king ride with you. You make life so exciting and unexpected. You leave an lasting impression (or a chew mark) on everyone you meet (or their shoes 😒) happy unofficial official gotcha day to the little terror I never knew I needed 💕”
⭐️ COURTESY LISTING⭐️Give me some Sugar, baby! Sugar is a 1 1/2 year old Bully breed mix. He is purported to be a Dobie but we're skeptical of that one, possibly Dogo, and we are hoping to do a DNA test on him via the shelter.
He was named well, he is a stellar dog. He rocked living in a kennel for 4 months during boarding at the vet, once he was finally released by former owner, I was able to start getting him out and about and the clinic was able to move forward with his vetting. This is why ya'll have a Book of Sugar, I LOVE this dog and I'm a bit heartbroken about wrong time/wrong place, and also determined to see him find an amazing home.
Sugar is vision and hearing impaired, combined with being young and energetic (well, a bit wild at times if we're honest) he is absolutely not a good fit for little dogs, senior dogs, little people, senior people, or people that don't do much. This dog is a hiking buddy, running companion, or at the very least, long-walk-daily (and allowed to sniff, but not snatch up tidbits of who knows what that he finds compelling, and he WILL find it) dog. He is receptive to other dogs' language, but may miss some cues, so any potential dog buddy needs to be an observant and patient friend. Also energetic and tolerant of being leaped over, and probably crashed into at times. He is extremely food-motivated and a quick study, walks perfectly on leash, and will pretend he has no idea what you want until you break out the cheese when you say Sit.

Star is an 11 year old spayed American Pitbull Terrier who is looking for a wonderful retirement home to call her own! Star knows her basic manners such as sit and lay down, and loves to go for brisk walks around the neighborhood. Despite her age, she is still spry and can pull on leash, so staff has been working hard to encourage her loose leash walking skills! Star loves food, and hopes that her new home won't forget to provide her with lots of tasty, healthy snacks. Star would prefer to spend time with her favorite people, and would rather not be left alone all of the time. She loves to be pet, scratched, and cuddled!
1) Star would do best in a home that will take her for daily walks and help her explore!
2) Star would prefer a home with either no children, or children over the age of 15 who will be respectful of her older age.
3) Star will need a home that is committed to her ongoing medical care for her eyes and ears.
4) Star may do best in a home with either no other dogs or with a respectful dog of similar age and energy level, as she isn't really looking for a playmate at this point in her life!
This is the recipe for success for Star - are you the missing ingredient? If not, don't worry, because someone else will be and your ingredient will be best for another dog!
Remember our sweet “Stormie” girl from last summer?? 😍 Check out this incredible update on her beautiful new life!
We're thrilled to announce that Jamie has been officially adopted! He now has the most wonderful forever home with the Teller's, a retired couple from Bend. They saw his photos and submitted an application while in North Carolina for their daughter's wedding. Although they were still grieving the loss of their last pitbull, something about Jamie's ears and his sweet smile just told them he was supposed to be theirs. As soon as they got home, they drove from Bend to Portland to meet him in person. His new mom walked in to his foster home, immediately sat down on the the dog bed and they cuddled like they were meant to be together. She even brought gift bags for his foster brothers!
Jamie is now living the high life in Eastern Oregon with lots of rescue doggie cousins, and the best parents we could have asked for. He deserves every bit of it!
