Despite his time spent on "the Pile" as it was called, breathing the air that was never dust free and searching through the contaminated and poisonous rubble, Sunnyboy lived to be 11 years old..
"Sunnyboy"
12/25/93-11/3/04
Handler: Shirley Hammond
Deployed: World Trade Center following 09.11.01 — with Cheri Sikora.
Wishing all our friends and family a safe and wonderful Independence Day celebration 🇺🇲.
“Schultz” ~ available for adoption
Approx 7 years old
Neutered & microchipped
Up to date on vaccines
On monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventative
Black/Rust
Natural ears, docked tail
Housebroken/crate trained
If you are looking for an all weather workout companion, look no further! Schulz is a Doberman mix, and has a unique low maintenance short double coat that makes him the perfect companion for a winter hike or a spring/fall biking or running partner. He takes awhile to trust any new humans but give him some time and love and he’s an incredible sidekick that enjoys going with you wherever you go and dogs are allowed. He has shown us he prefers to be the only large dog you own. He does warm up to smaller dogs, though we advise slow introductions over time for a successful friendship. Cats and other small animals are a definite NO in his book.
If you’re interested in Schultz or any of our Doberman friends, contact us on our FaceBook page. PM your email and contact number to receive an adoption application.

He is currently in Charlotte, NC and ideally we are hoping to find transport assistance to take him from Charlotte to Statesville or Mooresville, NC tomorrow before noon, if not, Saturday if need be. Anyone able to give us a helping hand please PM me or call me at (484) 929-5052.
Very sad news came today regarding Thelma, FDR Alumni "Atlas" who has been staying with us while his momma was in the hospital battling COVID-19, has lost her battle and passed away. Atlas will continue his stay with us while we update his veterinary needs and begin the search to find this sweet, 7 year old fawn gent, a new "fureverhome". Everyone here at FDR would like to extend our sincerest condolences to Thelma's family and friends on her passing.
“Tucker”
Born 9/29/19
Red/rust
Docked with natural ears
Current on vaccines, and flea/tick and heartworm prevention.
Will be neutered prior to placement
Fenced in yard with minimum 6’ high fence required.
A beautiful day with an equally beautiful boy.
Just one look at this handsome boy’s face and you can see he’s an intense fellow!
He is doing well in his foster home, has learned some manners and working well on basic commands, including walking nicely on a leash.
He’s an active boy who would do best with no other dogs, or cats. He takes direction well from a strong and confident person familiar with this breed, who enjoys fulfilling his intense exercise needs with lots of playtime and long walks. His ideal adopter would be keen on obedience training to exercise his mind as well. He never misses a thing in his surroundings and keeps his foster parent on their toes.
If you’re interested in Tucker or any of his friends here at FDR, please contact us with a bit of information about yourself including an email to send you our application.
Congratulations are in order for FDR Alumni "Meisha" on your 2 year "Gotcha Day" anniversary! You are looking simply fabulous!! A big Thank You to her momma Joan for sharing this photo with us 😘💖!
Silver~ available for adoption
Born 3/1/19
Neutered, vaccinated, on flea/tick and heartworm preventative.
Crate trained
Blue/rust
Docked, Natural ears
Approx weight: 82 pounds
His name suits him well with that gorgeous blue coat with glints of silver.
This enthusiastic boy is looking for an equally active person to call his own. The right owner will help him continue to learn some basic obedience commands as he will sit for a treat, and is ready to learn the ‘down’, and ‘stay’ commands, and to walk nicely on a leash. He’s eager to please, so we are sure with some patience and plenty of treats he will pick up on these commands quite quickly. One thing for sure Silver has told us, is he would be most comfortable in a home where he’s your only fur companion.
If you feel you can offer Silver a home, please contact us with your email so we can send you an application.
“Zeus”
Approx age, 6 years
Red/rust
Docked with natural ears
Current on vaccines, and flea/tick and heartworm prevention.
Neutered
Crate trained/house trained
Fenced yard required
Look at that smile!
This boy is loving his happy life!
And rightly so!
Most of our FDR followers probably wouldn’t recognize this boy now. After much deserved TLC, he’s a new man!
His journey to us began just back in June 2020 and his freedom ride can be seen in a previous post.
Zeus had a hard knock life on his own before being rescued and landing himself here at FDR. Thank goodness he found us in time, and what a resilient soul. He’s made such great strides learning to trust again and never wants to look back.
Zeus is an energetic character that’ll make you smile when you meet him. He’s always in an upbeat mood and ready to be included in your next exciting adventure for him, whether that’s a walk, a hike, a bike ride, or a trip to a pet friendly store where he gets to greet all his employee friends who give him treats.
He’s happy to devote his all to his person, and sharing you with other large dogs is certainly not on his to-do list. However, he will happily share you with a small canine, but hasn’t made up his mind if he’s ready to share his home with a cat. His foster home houses free range chickens that occupy his fenced in exercise yard, and he’s happy to let them roam undisturbed. Basic commands (sit, down, stay, recall) come easily for him and he’s always happy to please his owner with his basic obedience skills including walking nicely on leash.
Zeus is just one of many wonderful Dobermans available for adoption here at FDR. If you’re interested in becoming a Doberman parent, send as a message including your email to start the application process.
Diablo ~ available for adoption
Born 3/1/19
Neutered, vaccinated, on flea/tick and heartworm preventative.
Black/rust
Docked, Natural ears
Approx weight 76 pounds
This handsome gentleman is a sweet personable boy that is looking for an owner that can he can cuddle up to and call his own. He already has some respectful manners and would like an owner who can help him continue to master some basic obedience commands as well. He will sit for a treat, and is ready to learn the ‘down’, and ‘stay’ commands and to walk nicely on a leash.
He’s such a smart boy we are sure with some patience and plenty of treats he will pick up on these commands quite quickly.
We are still learning what hanging out in a crate during downtime is like, and so far he seems to enjoy relaxing in his crate when his owners are present. One thing for sure Diablo has told us, is he would be most comfortable in a home where he’s your only fur companion.
If you feel you can offer Diablo a home, please contact us with your email so we can send you an application.
