Join us at the Regional Center for Animal Care & Protection this Saturday, November 20th from 1pm - 4pm for our Pop Up Fall in Love Adoption Event. We will have a ton of incredible dogs available for adoption. We can't wait to see you there!
VOLUME UP! Sweet Rhonda has lived in a shelter for nearly a year, and she is desperately waiting on her forever home. When she came to us, she had pretty bad skin allergies, but our medical team put her on special food and medication that has that under control. She is a total love bug who adores everyone she meets. Listen for more information about this sweetheart! If you think Rhonda may be a good fit for your family, please email adoptions@angelsofassisi.org.
We welcomed 6 new smiling faces to our Adoption Center this past weekend! Sweet Thanos and Hager are two loving boys who were transferred to us from the Regional Center for Animal Care & Protection. RCACP was reaching capacity, and we are so thankful we had the space to take in these sweethearts. Once they get their intake exams completed, they will be ready for their forever homes.
Remember the malnourished hound who was found as a stray last month in Botetourt County? His name is now Hugo, and he just found his forever home. As you can tell, he is so excited. We are so happy for this handsome boy!
Meet Jessie! Sweet Jessie came to the Community Pet Clinic today through Craig County Animal Control. This poor girl was terrified but is quickly warming up to everyone. She has a severe skin infection likely causing her enlarged lymph nodes and several open wounds across her body. Jessie is also very underweight. She has had her initial exam since arriving and a bath to help with her skin. We aren't sure what we will find, but we are taking extra special care of this sweet girl, and we hope she will never have to face neglect again. Once this girl is healthy, we will be looking for her forever home. Please consider donating to our Biscuit Fund to help this sweet girl and others like her who have suffered from abuse, neglect, or cruelty.
HOSPICE FOSTER NEEDED: Meet Hippo! This sweet girl was found in the middle of the road, unable to walk, and she was having a tough time breathing. Animal Control brought her to us for treatment. They were able to locate her previous owner, but they signed her over. Our medical team did a full workup and found that she has congestive heart failure and liver failure. She is now on heart and liver medication. She is coughing less and breathing much better. We would love for this sweet girl to have a home where she can spend the rest of her likely limited days. Hippo is a total love bug who loves meal time and lounging in comfy beds. She will need a foster who can keep up with her medication. While Hippo can walk, she will need a foster who can carry her when needed. She can usually walk about halfway to her destination and will need a lift for the rest. If you are interested in providing this sweet girl with a loving home for the rest of her days, please contact April at asaunders@angelsofassisi.org.
Meet Buddy! Buddy always wears a smile, and he absolutely loves people and attention. If you let him, he’ll be sure to give you a ton of kisses. Buddy is a 6-year-old boy who was adopted from us over 4 years ago but was unfortunately returned a couple of months ago at no fault of his own. This boy is a total sweetheart and deserves a forever home. He does great with other dogs but would do best in a home with no cats.
This guy has had surgery before on his knees, but unfortunately, he has another CCL injury that can be maintained with pain management for the rest of his days. So an active family looking for a hiking buddy wouldn't be for him. If you are just looking for a companion to be right beside you while at home and take short strolls around the block, please consider Buddy. He is a water dog, and we are sure that makes his legs feel better. This boy has been through quite a lot, and we would love for him to have a home of his own. If you would are interested in adopting or fostering Buddy, please email our adoption coordinators at adoptions@angelsofassisi.org.
Meet Loyalty! This sweet 5-month-old girl came in today on our transport. She was here to be spayed and to have her broken leg assessed. Our medical team splinted her leg in hopes that amputation could be avoided. We will need to continue to monitor Loyalty for splint changes and to assess her healing progress. In the meantime, we would like to get her into a foster home while she heals as the shelter is no place for a puppy to grow up. She is a total sweetheart, and she deserves a home of her own while she heals.
If you are interested in fostering sweet Loyalty, please email our Adoption Coordinators at adoptions@angelsofassisi.org.
Who remembers our lifesaving girl Maggie? Maggie has been in her forever home since the end of April, and, as you can see, she is certainly living her best life. When Maggie was first adopted, she was an only pet, but her mom realized how much she loved other dogs, so she eventually rescued a sibling. Maggie and her sibling Aster are the best of friends and love cuddling together. Her mom says, “Maggie is the best of girls, and I’m so happy I was able to give her the best home ever. She deserves the world, and I’m so lucky to be the one to give it to her!” We are so happy Maggie is living her best life. Thank you to all of our wonderful adopters for providing such amazing homes to our incredible animals.
We had a wonderful week of adoptions with 37 animals finding loving homes! Congratulations to all the new families! #adopt
Meet Julio! This 3-year-old boy is a total love bug and as sweet as can be. He loves everyone he meets, and he is full of energy. He is still working on his leash walking, so he will need a patient family that can handle this strong boy while he learns his manners.
While Julio loves every person he meets, he doesn't love other animals, so he does need to go to an only pet home. He promises he has plenty of love to give. Julio is also undergoing heartworm treatment. His second treatment is scheduled for this month, so he needs to be kept calm while going through treatment. If you think this sweet boy would be a good addition to your family, please email our adoption coordinators at adoptions@angelsofassisi.org.
We had a wonderful week of adoptions with 20 animals finding loving homes! Congratulations to all the new families! #adopt
