It was like a WWF showdown last night, while I was working last night!
Current rescue scenes!
Cha Cha Cha!
The dogs that are not sanctuary dogs either are available for adoption, or will be after the completion of their veterinary care.
Enjoy!
Enjoy the recent photos received from a few CCR alumni! They live near and far: Newfoundland, Canada to Florida!
Dolly was adopted from the Cave Creek Rancho 5 years ago and is best friends with her brother, Sam. The last photo is of Milagros, adopted almost 4 years ago. She is one of the kindest and smartest dogs I have ever met. Both Dolly and Milagros were rescued from the Maricopa County Shelter. Each of these precious souls have shared much happiness and love with their families. ❤️ 🐾
Polly Pocket was handed over to her new parents this past Thursday. There was a lot of anticipation waiting for her to come to her new home, but Polly was worth the wait! She is doing very well and is enjoying spending time with Elisa while she works from home ❤️ congrats to all!!!
CCR Update:
Polly Pocket is doing great and has completely adjusted to having no teeth. She will have her vaccines this week and join her (very patient) adopters Brandon & Elisa.
And…a major breakthrough with the Cocopah dogs: I moved their gate towards the edge of the living room, and a few hours later, the terrier mix came to the opening to survey what lay beyond. Then….this is what happened when I did the same thing this morning…….and the little chi joined in and they both went to explore the yard! This is AMAZING!
Well, the new rescues are making baby steps in the progress department.
Their background story begins with the passing of their owner, in a home with many other dogs. The dogs were alone in the home after the owner passed -apparently for a little while. Several escaped the yard, and these 2 were picked up as strays in Cocopah. Terrified? Yes! Understandable? Yes! When they arrived yesterday, I placed a comfy bed in the bathroom for them; However, hiding behind the toilet was the choice they made. By the evening, both were on the bed. They ate a great dinner and belched like a couple
of drunken sailors! They FINALLY went potty during the night on their wee pads. This morning, each ate bites of pizza crust from my hand. I have been able to briefly pet the terrier gal- However the chi girl is terrified. Neither nipped at me. So it’s gonna take time and patience for these gals to begin to feel safe enough to be picked up and venture outside for potty time. For now, their world is the bathroom and the wide hallway beyond that door.
Looking for suggestions for names:
The chi is black, and the terrier is brown/rusty colored.
They will both need full vetting including lab work, spay, microchip, vaccines and perhaps dental surgery. Donations for their care can be sent to Chiquita Chihuahua Rescue via PayPal (chwawagal@gmail.com), OR phoned into Daisy Mountain Vet @ 623-551-8387 for the Chiquita Chihuahua Rescue account.
Please post name suggestions in the comments! Stay tuned for updates!
It’s my hope that one day these new rescues will be as relaxed as my Cosmo, who is featured in the final photo- and adopted by myself 4/13/2012 from the county shelter.
THANKS TO THE GENEROSITY OF OUR SUPPORTERS, THE FIVE DOLLAR FRIDAY DONATIONS, EXCEEDED OUR GOAL!

“Brother Bear” and “ Sister” these 2 bonded
Beauties came to CCR last year as an urgent owner surrender. Brother is the bigger of the pair and has the “flying nun” ears (Remember the show with Sally Fields?) and is a shy boy who allows occasional petting. He is otherwise well behaved. “Sister” is his companion from their original home and both are bonded. Sister is calm, enjoys cuddling and is sweet. These 2 need to be adopted together so they will be as happy as possible. Both are approx 6 years old and are fully vaccinated and had dentals completed, and have implanted microchips. They are both healthy and ready for their forever home with an experienced dog lover. Adoption fee for the pair is $300. Please email Roberta at Chwawagal@gmail.com with adoption inquiries. ❤️
