ADOPTION NEWS: Merle and Haggard have been adopted and have the sweetest new big brother showing them the ropes.
We have a couple more greets this weekend and then we will reach out to some more folks who applied.
Congrats, Merle, Haggard, and Mojo!!
We want to start transporting the most vulnerable of the chihuahuas/chi mixes next week with a focus on the pregnant mommas. We want to make it as least stressful as possible as they are scared enough already.
If you are able to assist on this journey next week please message us. Bonus points if you have transported for us before. And we ask that there’s at least two people on the transport, especially since these mommas need monitored closely during their journey. We can help cover gas.
Keep in mind they will be scared, possibly nippy/bitey or completely shut down after their recent trauma. This will not just entail normal happy dogs in some instances. They are decompressing and pregnant.
LAPWAI - this dog was picked up in Lapwai with some injuries and is at WSU currently. Please, contact us if you know this sweetheart.
We are no longer accepting applications for the current chihuahuas in our care. We had over 120 applications for them and are excited for them to begin their new lives.
We have an extremely busy day ahead and will hopefully start contacting potential adopters this evening or tomorrow.
Do not be disappointed if you are not selected this time around. We wish we could accommodate all of our approved applicants. Don’t let it keep you from applying for other animals in our care.
Does it seem like we are always asking for your help? If there was ever a time we needed it, this is it. We really need our community in order to take on this call for help.
We are assisting a with a terrible situation unfolding involving 80-ish chihuahuas. Yup … more chihuahuas. @Helping Hands Rescue will also be assisting with this situation. This situation is happening in Southern Idaho. Between HHR and us we are hoping to take in 25-30 of these chihuahuas. There are adults, puppies, seniors, pregnant mommas, etc. There are some that will need veterinary care, but will have vaccines, flea treatments, and deworming before leaving the humane society down there.
We and HHR need will need:
▶️ Small breed dog food (wet and dry)
▶️ Small breed puppy food (wet and dry)
▶️ Potty Pads
▶️ Foster homes that understand socialization and trust might be their biggest hurdle
▶️ Money for Veterinary care, gas for transports, and supplies
▶️ Exercise pens
▶️ People who can assist in transporting some of these pups from Southern Idaho to Lewiston
▶️ Towels and wash clothes
▶️ Hypoallergenic Baby Wipes
▶️ Bleach, Bleach wipes, etc.

Meet Penny and Porky. They’re with @Freedom Bound Hounds in Southern Idaho. They’re owner passed away and they need new homes. They are dachshund mixes weighing about 20lbs and 2 years old.
I know we have lots of dachshund lovers here and wanted to get the word out here about these two. They’re fixed, vaccinated, microchipped, house broke, and well behaved. Please, consider giving them a home.
Xena, our little deaf girl from Belle’s litter, is doing great! She went from 4lbs to 20lbs. Her veterinarian thinks we may not be looking at a liver shunt after all. We will recheck in a month to be certain. She’s dealing with some vaginitis that has slowed potty training but we are hopeful that antibiotics and probiotics will turn that around. As you can see, she’s quite the snuggler. She’s made such progress with her foster! Goes to show how fostering can make such a difference to these puppies in our care 🥰
Thank You @G & E Spa Essentials!! These are some pretty bad ass bath bombs that I requested for a special gift basket. Pennywise will bleed red when activated! Jessi and the rest of the McLean family are local and create some pretty awesome bath bombs, lotions, shower stuff, scrubs, and more! #ShopLocal

Jax and One Sockee are now home. These boys were wonderful patients for the veterinarians at Southway.
Jax was treated for a facial abscess, ear infection, sedated cheat grass removal, and brought current on all of his vaccines.
One Sockee has a fractured leg just below his knee. We are hoping it will heal okay with a splint and crate rest so he can avoid surgery. He was also made current on all of his vaccinations as well.
We are covering all of their veterinary care and follow up visits for their injuries. We also will be having them neutered once everyone is healed.
Thank you again for the donations this week! We still have a little ways to go and appreciate any donations for these boys, Rosie, Etc. Without you we wouldn’t have been able to help them 🐾 We kinda got hit all at once with these injured animals.
