5 month old female Lab mix
Shadow is a petite girl that came to us from Puerto Rico. She would love to snuggle with you in your bed, and is good with other dogs. We don't think she is going to get much bigger than she is now, which is about 20lbs. Shadow does a wonderful "sit" and is doing excellent on potty training.
If interested in adopting Shadow, please contact Kris at (414) 305-6291 or kristugel@hotmail.com.

ADOPTION OPPORTUNITY
My name is Baxter.
I am an energetic five and a half month old male puppy mix. I am a short haired tri color with cute big ears. I weigh 25# and I don't think I will get very big. I am truly golden at heart!
I am potty trained and know sit, come, stay and shake. I am very alert and learn quickly. I walk nicely on a leash, a harness helps. I also take correction well. Mom tells me I have the best "watch me" ever.
My foster mom has me on a great schedule that helps me control my energy and understand how to behave.
Each day we start with me waiting for my mom to release me from my crate. I am very patient, and wait for her to wake up since she's in the same room.
I go potty, then we go for a thirty minute walk. When we return she hand feeds me, and works with me on commands.
Then I rest a little so my food can digest. Next we go in the backyard and play with toys and run around. If I get too nippy, she corrects me. After I get a little tired my older sister Kelsie plays with me and teaches me how to properly play with other dogs.
Next my mom needs to do housework so she has me follow her around while she does chores. My leash is always on during the day so I am kept safe and focused.
I'm the afternoon we go for another walk and more play time alone and with Kelsie. In the evening we relax and watch Netflix. If I am being good I am allowed on the couch.
I am really interested in learning right now and I have the potential to be great at tricks. I do have a little issue with resource guarding with food, but have already improved in less than two weeks.
I am really excited to be a member of your family. I know you will love me, and I will love you and be a good boy.
If interested in adopting Baxter, please contact Karen Ackerman at kmackerman@hotmail.com.

ADOPTION OPPORTUNITY
2 year male; thought to be Great Pyrenees and Lab mix
Gus is a big lovable goofy dog. He loves all people and all dogs alike. Other dogs flock to Gus upon entering the dog park like he is a rock star: It is really a sight to behold. Gus will take off exploring on his own if given the chance, therefore he needs a fenced in yard. Gus would really love to have a playmate. He plays gentle enough to play with a puppy or an older dog that needs a companion to help keep them active or a dog anywhere between. He also likes cats and will try to play with them too.
Gus is NOT food motivated; Gus is motivated by the bond between him and his person and will take his time really bonding with people but when he does he loves them with all his heart. Gus is in need of some basic behavior training but is smart and has come a long way already. He is getting better about jumping on people but still does when meeting someone new or if he hasn't been exercised. Gus is also crate trained but will sleep with you if you let him.
Gus has a limp from having a broken leg when surrendered, but it doesn’t slow him down and it causes him no pain. He has seen several homes in his life, and really needs a special person that's willing to take the time to forge a strong bond with him and teach him a few basic behaviors. This person will have a really great dog and best friend.
Gus needs someone who will exercise him without fail. All his negative behaviors subside when he is properly exercised, and I suspect will disappear completely with obedience training. He loves kids, but probably shouldn’t be around really small kids, as he might knock them over.
If you are interested in meeting and adopting Gus, please contact Chris at Christopherwisely@gmail.com.

Adorable!!
Brady is looking for a home! He is from Valentina's litter!
Since arriving in his new foster home as an 8 week old pup, Brady has adapted well. He has two large foster brother dogs and he just wants to fit right in and play with them. He doesn’t care that he is just a fraction of their size. And when he sees his foster brother pups taking a nap, he tries to curl up next to them for snuggles.
He's not a fan of going in the crate at night or when his foster mom leaves the house but that is just because he thinks he is missing out. He is currently working on this and learning that the crate is just a quiet place for him to hang out sometimes.
Potty training is off to a great start, especially for how young he is. Brady doesn't like to go potty in his crate so he whines at night to let his foster mom know when it is time to go outside. He really is learning fast!
Brady is very playful. He loves playing chase with the other dogs, loves chewing on toys and loves exploring outside. He also loves his foster mom’s attention. He often asks to be picked up and pet. He gives sweet little kisses and likes to lay on foster mom’s feet when she is doing the dishes.
If interested in adopting Brady, please contact Leah at leahstauber10@gmail.com.
If you are not an approved adopter, please reach out and we will send you the link to apply specifically for Brady!

NATIONAL RESCUE DOG DAY
Is there a better day of the year!?
Thank you to all of our supporters who help us continue our mission to our volunteers, donors, and social media advocates!
Pictured below (left to right) is Brutus, Khloe & Dozer. Khloe was adopted in 2018 by her mom, Taylor. Taylor's sister, Willow, soon learned that she couldn't be without a rescue dog either so she adopted Brutus as a puppy! Well, the family just couldn't get enough and recently added Dozer to the clan. Three peas in a pod! We love watching this family of WAAGR dogs!
What is your rescue dog's story?

ADOPTION OPPORTUNITY
Iggy
2 year old male mix (guessed to be flat coat retriever and collie mix)
Meet Iggy! He is a sweet bundle of love and a very mellow and well-behaved boy. He's all black with a white spot on his chest, and he hardly sheds at all! He is steadily gaining (much needed) weight with his big appetite! He has long, lanky legs and huge paws - it's almost like he still needs to grow into them.
His foster home has a golden corgi who is half his size and they get along great. Iggy loves to chase and be chased, and he really plays well with this smaller dog. He loves water and swimming, and he does well with other dogs that are not aggressive toward him. He will chase a ball and bring it back, and he recalls amazingly well.
He's good with kids and plays gently. You can take anything away from him, even out of his mouth or food bowl with no issues. He does like to counter surf, and he's interested in the garbage, so be sure nothing that smells good is left where he can get it. When he's not running around he plops down anywhere and sleeps.
He also loves to walk and does not pull much. He knows to sit and lie down, and he's working on stay. He hasn't barked much, even when other barking dogs are around. He did so well at the dog park and had great recall even when another dog was involved.
Iggy has a bit of separation anxiety and is very attached to his foster mom - he follows me everywhere. This attachment has gotten better over the time, but he does NOT like crates.
Iggy is neutered, up to date on all shots, negative for heartworm, and has been thoroughly de-wormed. He has been eating 1.5 cups of dog food mixed with rice and chicken two times per day to help him gain some weight.
While he loves to play with other dogs, but he doesn't need another dog in the home to be happy. He does need to run, and a local dog park seems essential. He is only high energy first thing in the morning when he sees you, when he sees his leash, and when playing.
Please contact Kay at kaytales@gmail.com if you're interested in adopting Iggy!

Otter is a spayed female Golden Retriever mix and is approximately 6 years old. She weighs 98 lbs., is up to date on vaccinations, and is house trained. Her owner passed and she was surrendered to WAAGR to find her final family!
What makes Otter special? She has been the easiest foster by far! Her gentle loving heart enjoys the company of people and especially kids. She would love a little girl or boy ages 8 and up that she can call her very own. Otter plays well with other dogs and would love a mellow playmate. She also has her basic training knowledge. Otter is curious about her foster’s cat and hasn’t shown that she would harm a cat, just needs to be corrected and redirected.
Otter is the perfect blend between her two breeds; her golden reddish coat is a deep plush fur that you can bury your fingers in. She has a larger upper body, thick neck and narrower hip line with shorter legs and ears. Her personality is pure gentleness and uses her excited verbal communication to draw you in. Otter adapts well to new people and surroundings.
We require a fenced in yard because she will not do her doggy duties on a walk. Health issues may have occurred because she held her urine up to 12 hrs. She is currently on a prescription diet but this may not be long term. Otter has been with her foster for about a month and has been a delight.
If you’re interested in adopting Otter, please contact Linda at lightwindshealing@gmail.com.
