Happy Thanksgiving from the Golden Growls who we’re rescued in 2021, plus Buddy because he’s still looking for his forever person/s.
We’re so grateful for your support that has, and continues to, allow us to give senior dogs the quality care they need and deserve.
To our fosters -
We hope you know how Thankful we are for you and the pivotal role you play in these dogs lives. Not many people voluntarily sign up to care for an old dog with medical needs, but you do! Our mission would be impossible without you.
Thank You to everyone who supports us, shares our posts, donates, fosters, and volunteers!

Happy Almost Thanksgiving from Grandpa Woodrow!
Grandpa Woodrow is enjoying foster life in Colorado. He’s soaking up cough snuggles, daily walks, and special dinners.
Woodrow’s coughing has increased and his resting respiratory rate is a little higher than the Cardiologist is comfortable with. He’s headed to our vet this evening for a check up, bloodwork, and possibly another set of chest x-rays.
Send your positive vibes his way this evening 🤍
This video has us melting 😍
9.5 year old Avery is still in need of a new forever home. We are helping Avery’s family find her a home she can be more comfortable in.
Avery is dog friendly, cat friendly and is still up for adventuring! Small hiking trips, dates to the local brewery, and snuggles on the couch - Avery would make a great partner for all of it! Avery is looking for a home with no small or young children.
Avery is spayed, and up to date on all vaccines. Avery has Addisons Disease which is very well managed with a daily steroid pill and monthly shot - which can be given at home if comfortable. Golden Growls will happily cover three months of Avery’s medication, to make the transition easier.
If you want to meet Avery (and why wouldn’t you!?!) please fill out an application here:

Kristie spent a majority of her life with the same family, where she was kept as an outdoor dog. Despite all the years of loyalty she provided, she wasn’t included in her families plans when they moved, so she was surrendered to BARC Animal Shelter in Texas.
Yesterday Kristie arrived in Colorado and will be cherished for all her days! A huge thanks to @rescuedpetsmovement for advocating for her and getting her safely to us! We couldn’t have saved her without a foster offer, and not only did she get a foster, she landed one of the best! Kristie will be hanging out with Golden Growl Alumni Paul (previously known as Palomo) until she is adopted. A huge thanks to Heather for hanging out with Kristie until her foster got off work last night.
She is estimated to be 12 years old, still has a good amount of energy and is extremely sweet. She has a nasty ear infection, which we’ll be starting meds for today. Her shelter vet notes mention cloudy eyes, pressure sores, and possible hip issues. We’re gonna get her fixed up and feeling her best!
Welcome to the pack, Kristie! You are already so loved!
We woke up to a dusting of snow on the ground, so what better day to launch our new Golden Growls hoodie/sweater campaign?!
This is an easy and fun way to support our dogs and their medical bills, while also spreading the word about our mission!
Bonfire, like everyone else right now, is experiencing trouble with stock so we’ve launched a couple different options in hopes there are sizes for everyone. Click on every color to see sizes available.
We appreciate your support so much! We have a new Golden Growl arriving today, and we can’t wait to share her with you!

Woodrow arrived in Colorado yesterday thanks to the @Many Paws Volunteer Transport Team. Alex met the transport team and took Woodrow straight to his foster - with snuggles on the way of course!
Woodrow had his appointment with PetCardia today (thanks for chauffeuring him around, Staci) ,and here is what we learned during his consult and echocardiogram. Woodrow has a severely enlarged left atrium and severe mitral regurgitation - which, in a nutshell, means his mitral valve is not closing tightly, allowing blood to flow back into the heart. We are starting him on Pimobendan, which has shown to delay the progression of heart failure. His fosters will be closely monitoring his resting respiratory rate once a day when he is sleeping to ensure it doesn’t go above where it should be.
The Cardiologist did agree that we need to move forward with his dental to give him a chance at a quality, and comfortable life. She has given our veterinarian a detailed list of what to avoid and what to use to make anesthesia as safe as possible for him. He is scheduled for his dental on Dec.1st.
Woodrow has been lucky to land great fosters home, both here and in California. We’re hopeful that Woodrow has some great days ahead.
If you’d like to support Woodrow’s medical bills, we would appreciate it: www.GoldenGrowls.org/donate

Woodrow had his appointment with PetCardia today (thanks for chauffeuring him around, Staci) and here is what we learned during his consult and echocardiogram. Woodrow has a severely enlarged left atrium and severe Mitral Value Regurgitation - which, in a nutshell, means his mitral valve is not closing tightly, allowing blood to flow back into his heart. This unfortunately puts him at high risk for spontaneous congestive heart failure. We are starting him on Pimobendan, which has shown to delay the progression of heart failure. His fosters will be closely monitoring his resting respiratory rate once a day to ensure it doesn’t go above where it should be, and we have a list of symptoms to watch for.
The Cardiologist did give us the green light to move forward with his dental to give him a chance at a quality and comfortable life. She has given our veterinarian a detailed list of what to avoid and what to use to make anesthesia as safe as possible for him. He is scheduled for his dental on Dec.1st. We are also getting a medical/medication plan in place for his partially collapsed trachea.
Woodrow has been lucky to land great fosters home - both here and when he was in California. We’re hopeful that Woodrow has some great days ahead, and we are doing everything we can to make that possible. Also, I would just like to say how thankful we are for fosters like ours who don't let medical needs stop them from giving these senior dogs the love they deserve!

Woodrow starts his journey to Colorado this weekend and we can’t wait till he arrives! He has a great foster family anxiously waiting his arrival.
Woodrow isn’t the only one joining the Golden Growl Pack - we have another, very deserving, senior joining us next week too. Stay tuned!
See you soon, bud! ♥️
We’re still locked out of our account - posting from the Facebook page.
Instagram needs a selfie to identify us, hopefully this one with Sancho works 🤞🏻🖤
Let us back in before I lose my ever loving mind 🙃
‘Scuse Me - can you drive me to my cardiology appointment next week?
Woodrow will arrive in Colorado next Monday and go straight into his foster home. We were able to get him a cardiology appointment for the day after her arrives, which is a huge blessing!
We are looking for someone to pick Woodrow up on Tuesday the 16th in Arvada and get him to PetCardia in Lafayette for his appointment at 10am, then take him back to his foster in Arvada.
Woodrow is in a great deal of discomfort from his teeth, but we can’t move forward with a dental till he meets with the Cardiologist - so this is hugely important for him.
If you can help, please send us a message.

After receiving little to no interest, Little Bean has found his forever foster family…
It us! He’s staying!
We have a home not every dog will flourish in. We have kids, other dogs, cats, goats and chickens. After having time to warm up, he has proven to be a great fit for all the above. He’s a great office dog, and gets to come to work with me and our other two dogs. We’re excited he gets to stay where he has become comfortable. He’ll be able to attend events with us, and be the tiniest spokesperson for the Golden Growls.
Also, after calling him a plethora of random names, he has made it very clear that his name has always been Sancho! He answers to it, his tails wags for it, and so Sancho it is!
Welcome to a family of people who have never been, and probably will never be again, “small dog people.”😂🖤
Happy Friday from Grandpa Woodrow!
Woodrow went to the vet yesterday and, on top of his heart murmur and awful teeth, x-rays showed left atrial enlargement and a partially collapsed trachea. This definitely was not the news we were hoping for, but we’re committed to doing everything we can to ensure Woodrow has the best quality of life possible.
We are trying to get him to Colorado as quickly as possible, so he can meet with our trusted team of vets and specialists. If transport doesn’t happen as quick as we’re hoping, he will start seeing specialists in California so we don’t waste any time. We are hopeful with medication, and a dental (if the cardiologist approves 🤞🏻) we can get him living the remainder of his days in comfort.
As for now, we’re so thankful for his foster Abby who is giving this boy some of his best days - which include daily walks, couch snuggles, and hand feeding him when necessary to make sure he eats.
As we promised, his invoice from his first appointment is in the comments. If you pledged to his care, or just want to help this sweet Grandpa, your donation would be so appreciated and will be so needed.
