Meet our Giving Tuesday ambassador, Jade.
Jade's finally able to find her forever home, can you tell she's excited about it?
Jade is a perfect vision of how the pieces of PAWS work together. Arriving in need of intensive medical care, Jade is now cancer free after 16 weeks of treatment funded by our community's generosity. Throughout her recovery Jade received special attention from devoted volunteers who visited her on non-treatment days, special treats and extra love from our dedicated staff, and expert care from the PAWS medical team.
While we all came together to get Jade through her medical crisis we can't take credit for the optimism, enthusiasm, and affection that bursts through every one of her smiles and wiggles. Her fighting spirit and unquenchable joy are one hundred percent Jade.
As we write this, Jade is out on a walk exploring Coronado with one of our animal care volunteers and soaking up every minute in the sun. If there was ever a soul worthy of their second chance it's Jade, and she's not wasting a single minute of it.

This Giving Tuesday we are looking back on six pets (of so many) who were saved through the generosity of our PAWS community this year. Each of these pets joined the PAWS family in 2021 and will be ending the year celebrating their first holiday season in their forever home.
While many pets enter PAWS hungry, afraid, and suffering from disease or injury, all will head to their forever homes happy, healthy, and loved. The transition from struggling stray to beloved family member often involves diagnostics, intensive treatments, specialist consultations, surgical procedures, and behavior interventions. The cost of providing the pets of PAWS with safe housing, nutritious food, quality medical and behavioral care, and preventative medicine exceeds $400,000 annually, and additional tens of thousands are needed to support our devoted staff and to enable PAWS’ advanced care and lifetime care programs.
Dixie, North, Bruno, Leroy, Blake and Odin all required special care to be ready for their transition into a forever family, and thanks to your support they were able to walk out our doors with a second chance. They represent just six of the 400 animals who have been cared for at PAWS this year.
The pathway from the Coronado Animal Care Facility to a forever home is guided lovingly by the staff and volunteers of PAWS, but it is your generosity that paves the way.
Together we saved 400 lives this year. We will not slow down and we will not give up on creating a world free of animal homelessness and suffering.
Will you?

I would like to take a moment to thank you for your continued support of PAWS as we have navigated one of our most challenging years yet.
Our holiday mantra this year is “home for the holidays”. Writing from my desk at PAWS, going home for the holidays is my dream for all the pets who are waiting here for their forever families to find them.
In my home, our favorite holiday tradition is opening our hearts and home to a foster pet. At the end of this Thanksgiving weekend and with the weeks of revelry to come, I am most excited to share the holidays with not only our foster, Peach, but with our newest forever addition, Beasley, who joined us from PAWS earlier this year.
Reflecting on my holiday experiences with my pets has brought me a wave of joy and nostalgia this morning, and I invite you to take a moment to ponder the same. Notice the ways that your fur friends have amplified your celebrations throughout the years. Anticipate the ways you will enjoy the upcoming holidays together.
Those sweet memories and their significance are compounded for the pets who were lucky enough to be home with you for the holidays. Our pets may be part of our holiday traditions, but we are their entire world and their reason for celebrating. You can see it in their faces as they eye a new toy or snatch a piece of thanksgiving turkey from the counter. You can hear it in their contented sighs as they climb into bed after a long day of celebrating in their safe and loving home.
PAWS will continue pursuing its lifesaving mission to provide pets in need with vital medical and behavior services throughout the holidays and for years to come. With your help, we can bring more pets “Home for the Holidays” and continue to create irreplaceable memories for countless pets and their humans alike. You can make a holiday donation to PAWS through the link in our bio, and I thank you in advance for your generosity on behalf of pets in need this season.

We are so incredibly thankful for the many ways our community supports PAWS and our animals ♥️

Today's Welcome Home Wednesday spotlight is for Maizey and Chai!
.
PAWS supporters might remember our first post about Maizey, the kitten who came to our facility this past summer stuck between two large glue traps. Now, since her adoption in July of this year, Maizey has a forever home where she is safe, happy, and thriving with her brother and fellow PAWS alumni, Chai.
.
Maizey and Chai's mom tells us:
"Maizey and Chai have been a perfect addition to my home. Chai is talkative and strong. He practices his hunting skills on stuffed mice as well as sweatshirt drawstrings. He loves to sleep under blankets while Maizey prefers to sleep right on top of me. Maizey is the quiet type that loves to be scratched and gives lots of kisses. They both enjoy their cat jungle gym and spend hours lounging in their hammocks."
.
Congrats to Maizey, Chai, and their family!

The cuteness never stops here at PAWS.
Sweet little Birch came to PAWS two weeks ago and quickly found his way into many foster homes as our staff and volunteers debated who got to cuddle with him each night. Aside from being exceptionally adorable, Birch is bright, confident, a quick learner and a lover of all dogs.
Like all puppies his age, Birch will need a forever home ready to guide him through the world, provide him with appropriate socialization, and support him through house, leash, and obedience training.
In exchange for your patience Birch is committed to cuddling often, sleeping in hilarious positions, and filling your camera roll with photos that are almost to cute to look at.
While we would keep him here with us forever, Birch is ready to find his perfect home where he can grow into the best friend, canine citizen, and world adventurer that he was born to be.
Now Available for Adoption:
I mean, just look at him.
Milky Way is unbearably cute, and it's not just in appearance. Tender, an instant friend to any creature canine or human, and so comfortable in a lap that it's hard to take a photo of just him, this little man will surely melt your heart.
As the days get shorter and colder, we can imagine nothing sweeter than spending this winter curled up with milky way, a cup of cocoa, and a good book. While the winter will end the bond you form with Milky Way will be quick and everlasting, and as spring arrives you will be ready to take on the world with your new best friend.
Run don't walk to adopt this perfect little prince because we are confident that he will steal the heart of the first family he meets.
Now Available for Adoption:
It's time to play with Rhea!
Happiest with a toy in her hand, Rhea's heart can be yours in exchange for a tennis ball, a rope, or something that squeaks. Friendly and active, Rhea's perfect person will be one as interested in being her best friend as she is yours, ready to take on the days together with enthusiasm and goofiness.
As smart as she is spunky, Rhea thrives when she has something to do. Learning leash manners quickly, Rhea is certainly a "go everywhere dog" in training.
Born for adventure, Rhea is ready for a lifetime of new bones to chew, new puzzles to figure out, and new adventures in the great outdoors. All she needs now is to find her partner in crime.
Now Available for Adoption:
This dynamic duo have returned to PAWS in the wake of an international family move, and boy have they grown since they were here as kittens.
Only suitably described as "majestic", these long haired brothers take lounging, cuddling, and friendliness to new extremes. Charlemagne and Alexander are not dainty, but larger than life in both personality and size.
Lovers of climbing, both brothers enjoy a good cat tower or obstacle course, and there is no height too high from which to survey their kingdoms.
Deeply bonded but with plenty of room left in their hearts for their people and other kitties, this pair will make a great addition to any home.
