Sacramento Area of CA -- adopters must come to us to adopt within 10 days of application being approved
ACCEPTING EXCELLENT APPLICATIONS – Harvey Wallbanger – PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY AND MENTION MANY DETAILS FROM THIS BIO IN YOUR INQUIRY
Harvey is a ~12 yr old, 4 lb Pomeranian
The good: Harvey is a little package of sweetness wrapped in a fluffy bundle. He loves to snuggle, sleep under the covers, follow you around and even PLAY!!! He is just the happiest little love muffin you ever saw.
He gives kisses and loves to snuggle and be scratched ALL over. He has also never once pooped inside his foster’s home.
He had a dental where his remaining four teeth were extracted. So he is toothless. This is a good thing because 1. He does not care and 2. He will never again have dental expenses.
The not-so-good: Harvey has Cushing’s Syndrome. This is where his body produces too much cortisol. It is controlled with a daily pill (trilostane) that we expect will run around $30-50 a month with routine monitoring labs. He is still in the process of getting his dose correct and a new home will need to be willing to take this on. He will come with a several month supply of the trilostane
It was caught early before there were any major changes to his bloodwork. His foster mom just noticed that he drank A LOT and peed A LOT MORE. While he has not had any poop accidents in his foster home, he does wear a belly band all the time because he pees a lot and has had many accidents. Since starting the medication, he has gotten MUCH better but he is still not controlled to the point that we would consider him housebroken and he may always need belly bands (he comes with some).
We do not think he hears well at all.
His skin is also recovering from being mostly hairless and really itchy when we got him and his trilostane medication should help this along as his hormones normalize. He will need regular professional grooming appointments with moisturizing treatments (he gets mud baths and Thera-Clean at ours)
He also guards his kennel area like he was born a guard dog. Outside of his pen, he is a love muffin. Inside his pen, he is a honey.
Our #petoftheweek is Salty Dog. There is no adoption fee for Pet of the Week to approved homes.
Salty Dog is a 13 lb, 16 year old seeking his sunset home. He does not have any specific health concerns and is considered an adoptable hospice only due to age.
Salty is on two inexpensive medications (~$5/month) for arthritis and may use an OTC supplement. He will come with several months' supply and a prescription to fill at a pharmacy of your choice at your expense for one year.
Salty is a quiet dignified gentleman who gets along with everyone in his foster family. He loves naps in fluffy blankets and enjoys gentle pets and being talked to.
Salty is fine in the car and is potty pad trained. He is also okay with going outside. He prefers soft canned food over kibble which is useful for hiding medication. He can get confused in new situations as he doesn't see very well but will settle quickly.
To inquire about adopting Salty Dog, please send an email to beourpet@gmail.com.

We want to capture those moments by sharing videos of their true self.
Does that sound like something you can help with? If you can spare a few hours a month helping animals by taking videos etc we would love for you to join our team. Contact us through email at beourpet@gmail.com and tell us about yourself and how you’d like to help our fosters.

Meet Pina Colada!
Pina Colada is a ~5 yr old, 7 lb Chihuahua who joins us from Wasco Animal Control
She is microchipped, vaccinated and free of parasites.
She will be spayed later this month. She has also had a dental with a few extractions
Her foster mom says this about her
“Pina Colada is your typical everyone who meets her falls in love with her immediately. She loves when you pet her and snuggle her face. She is a super sweet gal, and just wants treats, long naps in your lap and to chill.
She usually just rests on her oversized dog bed but loves to sleep in a lap or very close to her person.
We are working on her being house broken I expect a learning curve as she changes to her new home. She does fine in a crate
Pina is only vocal when she wants something. She will bark as her way of telling you to pick her up or treat.
She is fostered with a pit bull, two chihuahuas and a cat. She’s in love with them all.
Her current favorite activity is to nap or wander the house. Her activities include walking around the house following her foster mom everywhere she goes in the house (literally everywhere) and a stroll with her foster siblings in the neighborhood.
Expect slow walks since Pina is only 5lbs and doesn’t need a ton of exercise.
She should be fine with gentle children of all ages”
She is fostered in the SF Bay Area of CA and will only be available to people willing to come to us to adopt

Our #petoftheweek is Elderberry. There is no adoption fee for Pet of the Week to approved homes.
Elderberry is 7 lbs and about 9 years young. She is seeking a very special forever home and hopes you will share her video so she can find that perfect fit.
Elderberry has severe arthritis near the tail end of her spine which affect the nerves that relay messages to her brain for potty time. She therefore sometimes leaks when picked up or when excited or scared, and is kept in diapers at her foster home. That said, she IS potty trained and will go outside if taken out regularly. She's had previously fractured ribs on the right which no longer bother her but should be picked up with care. Dog steps are recommended as she uses them with ease.
Elderberry takes medication for arthritis, an OTC stool softener and a medication for her leaky bladder. She will come with a years supply of these medications. She has mild mitral valve disease but is asymptomatic and does not currently require medication or restrictions. Her senior labwork has found her to be healthy.
If you are willing and able to manage her needs, Elderberry is sweet, innocent, loving and loyal, a wonderful addition to the home. She wants love and would love to be on your lap or nearby. She is very good with other dogs and would likely be fine with cats and/or gentle children.
To inquire about adopting Elderberry, please send an email to beourpet@gmail.com.

This #tendollartuesday we are encouraging our followers who are able, to make a $10 donation to a nonprofit organization.
This Tuesday is dedicated to our hospice dogs and our Sunset Club.
So many times we are asked by the local shelters to take in dogs or cats, that are considered hospice. The medical staff at the shelters understand they will eventually be ready for their journey over the rainbow bridge 🌈🌉 however do not feel that it is yet their time.
We believe when animals are ready to take their journey, they should be surrounded by nothing but love💜. They deserve better than being left afraid and alone in a shelter in their final moments.
This $10 Tuesday we ask that you consider donating to Umbrella of Hope so that we can continue taking in hospice animals such as Matilda, who was surrounded by love and light for the last few months and her final moment, when she was ready to exchange her 15 year old body for wings 👼

Meet Gin Fizz!
Gin is a 15 yr old, 10 lb Chihuahua Mix who joins us from City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center
She is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, free of parasites and has had senior labwork that shows she is healthy.
She is toothless which does not seem to bother her at all and she happily gums around dry dog food with ease (she will eat wet food but chooses to bury it more than consume it). The great news is that her new family will never have to worry about dental care
Due to age, she is also sight and hearing impaired but it does not bother her, so it should not bother you either – she adapts and is incredibly resilient
She is on one very cheap medication for arthritis (around $2/month total per GoodRx – yes, TWO dollars) and will come with a several month supply and a prescription to take to the pharmacy of your choice with refills good for one year at your cost.
(Many of our senior dogs are on arthritis meds because just like people over the age of 40 often have aches and pains, so do dogs. "Not treating" is not the same as "not needing" for all of the people who constantly ask us why our dogs are on arthritis meds when many other shelter/rescue dogs are not.)
Her foster mom says this about her
So sweet and so friendly. Nobody is a stranger to her. Makes herself right at home. Once she maps the layout she will find herself a favorite dog bed to call hers.
She loves food and takes her meds easily in her meals. She loves people and will follow them around the house. She has not had any accidents in the foster home as of yet.
She loves getting pets and told that she is a pretty princess.
She gets along well with dogs and cats and would be fine with gentle children
She is deaf but does not startle easy as long as you softly pet her to know you are trying to get her attention.
Her eyesight is not the best however she does not let that slow her down and gets around easily.
She prefers to travel in a lap vs a crate however will go into the crate easily if you need her too. She gives Amazing kisses whenever you allow her to ”
Meet Sake Bomb!
Sake Bomb is an 11 yr old, 8 lb Chihuahua who joins us from Delano Animal Shelter
He is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, free of parasites and has had a dental cleaning. His senior labwork shows that he is healthy
He takes a VERY CHEAP ($2/month) medication for arthritis and will come with a several month supply and a written script that you can have filled at the pharmacy of your choice for one year.
His foster mom says this about him
“What a happy little guy! He is always wagging his tail like he’s having the time of his life. He has fit right in with the 4 resident dogs with no problems.
He currently wears a belly band as his desire to mark subsides (hopefully). He’s getting the hang of being inside, where we don’t potty, to going outside, where you’re cheered on for it. Since he was just neutered, we expect that this will slowly wane as those hormones leave his body
He sleeps like a champ in his kennel at night, is a good eater, and takes meds just fine in pill pockets. He was fine on the car ride home. He does well on a leash
He comes up for pets and likes to be on, or near you when relaxing. I think he’s a very good boy.”
He qualifies for our Seniors for Seniors Program where pets over age 5 are available to people over age 55 for a $5 adoption fee (application required and regular adoption criteria apply).
He is fostered in the SF Bay Area of CA and for the first 30 days he is available, he will be adoptable to people willing to come to us to adopt. After that, if he is still available, we will consider transporting him to major US airports for flexible adopters willing to work with the volunteer flight attendants who escort them in-cabin on STANDBY flights in their spare time.

Wags 'n Whiskers Weekly!
Today's highlights are all about the coziest seniors we have in Umbrella of Hope. Who's your favorite snuggle bug? Let us know in the comments below 🐾
1. Harvey Wallbanger is our fanged Pom-Chi mix. He's currently on medical hold since he's needs to undergo major dental work before he's ready to be adopted. Please consider donating so we can continue to fund his medical aid!
2. Billy is a senior daschund and part of the duo that participated in our recent #UOHBiggestLoser. He is big for his size, but has done a lot in the past weeks to lose weight and get active. Now with all the extra energy he's gained, he plays like a pup and goofs around more so than any other dogs in our arsenal!
3. Hoppel Poppel is an old, gentle being with lots of love to give. Naps are a favorite past-time! He is mildly impaired and has Cushings, so needs to go to a home understanding and patient about his condition.
4. Mamma Mia is our #petoftheweek, meaning her adoption fee waived until the 20th of November! She's a sweet kitty that has been with us for quite some time. Her acrobatic sleeping positions are always feats of amazement and laughter!
5. Grog has to be one of our tiniest residents at UOH! He enjoys napping belly-up, and has the demeanor of a pup! He currently has glaucoma in one eye, but also recently just finished getting his teeth clean. Very precious boy ready to go to a loving family.
6. Stevie is born blind but given time to acclimate to her surroundings, gets around very well. Her signature sleeping position is the pretzel and is very playful and bonds quickly to most anyone she meets!
7. Sidecar is a cheeky chihuahua and hides his age very well (ssshhh... he's 12)! He is healthy and is already microchipped, neutered and vaccinated. Food is life to him, and you'll usually find him wanting to curl up in a blanket next to you.
Bonus good news:
Rum Twizzle has an appointment set to check the condition of his knees and hips in December! We're all hoping for the best results so we can get him ready for adoption.
For more information about the pets featured here or any of the other animals under our umbrella, visit www.beourpet.org1
💜We are thrilled to announce these adoptions💜We have Songbird EltonJohn. Her fosters fell in love with her and decided she’s not going anywhere. Also adopted this week is Daiquiri Cocktail and Bellini Cocktail.
Mojito cocktail (white poodle) mimosa (kitten), sweet Angeline, Boomerang cocktail, Streaker 11, Faina, and Old friend! ❤️
