Friends of the Pueblo Animal Shelter

Friends of PAS is a non profit organization helping the Pueblo Animal Shelter with raising money, saving lives and educating the public.

The mission of Pueblo Animal Services is to prevent animal cruelty and neglect, and promote a responsible community where animals are inherently valued and owners are committed to their pets.

The Pueblo Animal Shelter (PAS) had humble beginnings, starting in a 5,000 sq ft building in 1970. Over the years the volunteers and support has grown as well as the facility and scope of PAS. In 2002, PAS contracted with the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region. This partnership has made PAS's new state-of-the-art 21,000 sq ft facility possible. With clean, glass enclosures and comfortable viewing rooms, as well as open space and roomy kennels, PAS goal of "creating a low stress, healthy enviroment" was achieved. In 2010, PAS brought in 5,003 dogs and 3,995 cats. PAS also provides rabies clinics, low cost spay and neutering, as well as lost and found resourses.
