Murray County Humane Society

Murray County Humane Society is a licensed GA rescue, no kill facility, and 501(c)3 organization committed to saving lives of unwanted pets.

Our mission is to help the abandoned, neglected, and abused dogs and cats in our area and surrounding areas, educate the public in proper care of their pets, and to promote spay and neuter.

Nestled in the foothills of the Appalachians, in a very rural part of north Murray County, Georgia, is the Murray County Humane Society Foster Care Facility. There are no signs depicting that this is a haven for unwanted dogs and cats for fear that more will be tossed over the fence that surrounds the property. Hundreds of dogs and cats have passed through these doors...they are abandoned, neglected, and abused. If they could speak, each would have a story to tell.

At the foster facility, they receive the utmost of TLC while awaiting a forever home, transport to another rescue group, or for some, this is where they stay to live out the rest of their lives. Our goal is to provide a safe, loving environment for as many unwanted animals as we have to ability to save. The Murray County Humane Society is a non-profit (501c3), licensed Georgia rescue whose purpose is to provide shelter, food, and medical care to unwanted dogs and cats while trying to place them in loving and permanent homes. We are a small group of volunteers who work to provide love & care for these animals while at our foster facility. Our rescue is a no kill rescue group so some of these animals will remain with us until they cross over the rainbow bridge. Everything we do is accomplished through donations, membership fees, and fundraising projects. Without the support of our community, we would not be able to continue saving the lives of these unwanted pets in Murray County.
