Vision:
Polk County is a caring community that will reduce the surplus population of pets and find loving homes for all animals in need.

Goals:
1) Partner with Polk County Animal Control to establish an innovative, aggressive adoption program.

2) Initiate Responsible Pet Ownership education in public schools.

3) Increase funding for local animal rescue and adoption groups.

4) Raise public awareness of the importance of spraying or neutering pets.

5) Identify foster homes for animals awaiting adoption.

6) Develop an age appropriate Responsible Pet Ownership (RPO) program for presentation in county schools.

7) Recruit presenters for RPO programs, secure approval from Polk County Elementary Schools.

8) Recruit and train volunteers to run a surrender prevention/pet retention program.

9) Secure grants and corporate sponsorships to increase funding for animal needs.

10) Partner with local and regional media to publicize animal adoption information and increase public awareness of low-cost spaying and neutering programs.

11) Work with county officials to increase public confidence by improving and transparency of animal control operations.

12) Educate local and state public offials on the advantages of mandating breeder's licenses for un-spayed or un-neutered dogs and cats.
