The Humanity and Hope United Foundation exists to implement holistic solutions in individual Honduran communities suffering from endemic poverty and its effects. We have a long-term focus, and sustainability is always most important.

Our first step in each community is to create economic opportunities by creating employment. We believe firmly in the "Teach a person to fish" principle. We lease fertile, unused farmland and then pay villagers to cultivate the land. We bring in local experts in order to educate the villagers thereby ensuring their continued ability to farm long after the project culminates. Once the crops are harvested, we sell them to a local wholesaler and reinvest all proceeds back into the village.

Our second step, usually performed in tandem with creating employment, is always to make sure fresh, clean drinking water is available to everyone in the village. If there is no well for potable water, we build one. In order to be successful and happy, people need water.

Next, we take the proceeds from our agricultural cultivation and teach villagers how to save, and invest in the future. After we set aside that money, we use the rest of the earnings to invest in social projects within the community. First, we support community education by making sure that each child has the supplies and uniforms necessary to attend school.

Next, we look for a project inside the community that wll benefit the community as a whole, we fund the project, and the villagers complete it. Examples include a soccer field with new posts and nets, a community playground, or a community gathering place.

Rather than trying the conventional method of administering humanitarian by distributing resources broadly (think food and clothing distribution), we look to focus our resources in individual communities. By investing strategically in individual villages, we believe the projects can gain more traction and have a more profound effect upon those that benefit from the projects.

Everyone deserves the chance to succeed in life, regardless of where they are born. Our goal is to build strong foundations in communities, and ensure that everyone has that chance.
