Our mission is to foster the humane treatment of animals through education, human-animal relations, shelter, cruelty reporting and animal control.


The mission of the Humane Society of the High Plains is to foster humane treatment of animals through the following objectives:

Education:
Educating the public on the medical, physical, and other needs of animals. This includes promotion of appropriate vaccination and licensing practices by pet owners.

Human-Animal Relations:
Encouraging good human-animal relations, including humane measures (such as sterilization) to reduce the numbers of unwanted pets. The Society recognizes the usefulness of many different kinds of programs which may encourage healthy relationships between people and animals, including nursing home visits, pet loss counseling, adoption counseling, companion animals for the elderly, the handicapped, or chronically ill children.

Shelter:
Providing temporary shelter (including appropriate medical care if necessary) and seeking new homes for homeless or unwanted pets.

Cruelty Reporting:
Assisting in the reporting of cruelty complaints and cooperating with appropriate community officials in the enforcement of laws pertaining to cruelty to animals.

Animal Control:
Provide housing for stray animals as per Animal Control Contract with the city of Hays

The mission of the Humane Society of the High Plains is to foster humane treatment of animals.

We provide the following services.

Housing:
We provide temporary shelter to homeless and unwanted pets until they can be placed in forever homes.

Lost & Found:
We take reports on lost and found pets in order to help them find their way home.

Adoption:
We place homeless and unwanted pets into new forever homes.

Cruelty Reporting:
Assisting the community in the reporting of animal cruelty complaints to the proper authorities.

Education:
We offer tours of our facility to classes and groups of students. Provide humane educational literature. Educate the public of the importance of spaying or neutering animals, vaccinations and proper animal care.
