Huge thanks to Sarah from four paws pet spa for doing an awesome grooming job today on two of our special babies! I know Sarah didn’t want me to publish pictures of Max because she was unable to complete grooming his face. Max was totally uncooperative despite her best efforts, and I appreciate that she was willing to forgo the uncomfortable and slightly dangerous job of trying to shave his face when he is so wiggly and squirmy. We don’t know Max’ background and we don’t know what he has been through, but if he acts painful when we touch his face, we definitely don’t want to push him too far. SARAH suggested taking him to a vet office for sedation and seeing if they could shave his face there. Sounds like a grand idea to us, but in the meantime he is certainly enjoying the mats being removed from his body, and being clean and fresh! Thank you Sarah!

What a great day to hang out with the dogs at the shelter!

Sweet Parks met me at the gate to his “home” this morning! Parks is a six-year-old neutered male, great with other cats, with the only problem being he is FIV positive. It does not seem to affect him in any way! He has been a healthy man since he’s been at the shelter, and is well-rounded and happy to see us. He is the friendliest of the three brothers who were brought in together a month ago. They would all love to be adopted and do not need to go together.

Gobbler is available for adoption on Tuesday. He is a vocal but fun-loving hound mix puppy who in typical puppy fashion loves exploring, tasting everything, and peeing indiscriminately. What a cutie!

Senior Roxy is in the market for a home for the second time in just three months. Let’s make sure this one is forever, and that she doesn’t have to spend valuable time learning new house rules when she desires to be retired and relaxed! Marty and Jesse briefly shared a bed space today. Both of these boys are happy to share space with any other cats if needed in order to find a home! Senior Marty enjoyed a brief grooming today, although it was not pictured here. Jesse prefers observing grooming rather than being part of it!

Beautiful 8 1/2-year-old Cookie still waits for a home. She is declawed in the front, so must be kept inside only, as she has always lived. Her sister has gone to Petsmart in Lynchburg on a trial separation and they are doing great separated. Cookie loves other cats and we understand she and her sister lived with a pitbull very happily in their original home. Cookie has been updated with vaccines, uses her litter box meticulously, and was tested for FelvFIV. I’m not sure she would be a loving lap cat but she is gentle and does enjoy being stroked and petted nicely. At her foster home she spends time exploring with the other cats, basking in the sun, and enjoying special treats. BoPeep needs a job! One of the smartest little ladies ever at the shelter, we wonder if she could handle “sniffing” duties for local law enforcement?!

She learned “place” concepts within minutes, and wanted more! Fifteen minutes of training and we know she slept well last night! Do you have time to challenge BoPeep? She will love you forever!

He’s growing! “Teenager” Digger learned about communicating via Facetime when he received verbal reinforcement from volunteer Abigail’s mom! Thanks to Abigail for working with Digger with treats and consistency, teaching him about trust when it comes to handling. Digger needs a home! He is looking for a placement with a family that is low-key, patient, who has a fenced yard, and another dog (or six!) to play with Digger. We re-decorated for the three boys, and gave them a little more space over the weekend. They are more comfortable with us each day. Marty desperately needs his dentistry, and we are planning to schedule and then fundraise in the next couple days. Parks and Jesse are both happy six year old boys who would enjoy a home where they could be outdoor and indoor. They lived happily with other cats with no issues. Parks is FIV positive, but has had no problems with illnesses in his time at the shelter.
