This page was created to inform citizens about domesticated animal issues, laws and facts within the town of Windham, Maine and the surrounding areas.

Welcome to the official Windham, Maine Animal Control Facebook Page! The goal of this page is to promote responsible pet ownership, increase public awareness of animal-related issues and to provide resources to ensure pets are a positive addition to the community.

The Windham Animal Control Officer (ACO) is a full-time employee who is scheduled to work 40 hrs/week. When she is not on-duty, animal-related calls are handled by officers of the Windham Police Department. This page was not intended as a way to report a crimes or concerns as it is not monitored at all times. Please call 207-892-2525 (answered 24/7) to submit a concern, or to request to speak with the ACO or on-duty police officer. Wildlife problems are handled by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife who can be reached at 207-657-2345.

All stray animals picked up by the ACO are then taken to the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland located at 449 Stroudwater Street Westbrook, ME. Their telephone number is 207-854-9771.
