Habitat for Humanity of York County is southern Maine's the affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. We are a nonprofit organization that builds simple, decent and affordable homes with and for ownership by low-income families in York County. Our mission is to work towards the elimination of poverty housing and homelessness in York County and to stir the hearts and minds of others to take action on this issue. Established in 1985, we construct homes for and with deserving families as well as weatherize homes for low-income households. We help to offset costs through donations and volunteer labor. Donations of money, land and material come from individuals, churches, local businesses, towns, corporations and foundations. Habitat also operates a Re-Store, a home improvement discount outlet selling new and reusable merchandise to the public. ReStore proceeds support our affordable housing mission.
