Cross-Posting dogs in need of adoption, and promoting local dog rescues in the Southern Maine area, while offering encouragement to owners of rescue dogs.

Our goal is to save as many canine lives as possible, from high kill shelters down south, though rescue, foster and adoption.

Downest Dog Rescue is a non-profit, 501(c)3 based in the Portland, Maine area.

We are dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of medium and large dogs including: Golden Retrievers, Labrador Retrievers, Boxers, Shepherds, Collies, Pit-bulls and mixed breed puppies, from high kill shelters in South Carolina and Georgia. These dogs are placed in foster care in Maine until adopted. All of our dogs are fixed and up to date on shots.
