Uplift Humanity is a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing recidivism rates in India by empowering juveniles throughout South Asia through cross-cultural educational initiatives.


In an effort to aid youth transitioning back into society from juvenile facilities, teenage volunteers will share their knowledge and skills in order to open up doors of opportunity for disadvantaged youth. Volunteers will work with advisors in order to present effective and useful information to those at juvenile facilities. During the three week visit, volunteers will visit juvenile facilities on a daily basis and share pre-arranged lessons. Additionally, volunteers will have the opportunity to visit local attractions. During all aspects of the program, volunteers will be accompanied by qualified advisors knowledgeable about the content, geographic location and all necessary procedures. The following is a brief itinerary:

Week 1: Arrive in project location, travel to apartments. Orientation in India and volunteer assignments. Overview of general information.

Week 2: Volunteers paired with small group of juveniles to present material and lead discussions on moral and ethical decision making.

Week 3: Volunteers will teach literacy and technology skills and engage in career counseling as well as vocational training with groups of juveniles.
