Rutgers Habitat works in conjunction with Habitat affiliates in our area. Our goal is to create affordable housing for low income families.

Currently, we're pledging $100,000 to Greater Plainfield Habitat for Humanity to build a home- this is one of the largest sponsorships done by a college chapter in the United States.

We offer help to our partner affiliates throughout New Jersey -- that means we work alongside families, various volunteers, and subsequently spend hundreds of hours building their homes. And we help in order to contribute to the effort of giving families an opportunity to own a decent, affordable home of their own. Each family is expected to ultimately pay for and maintain their new home with no monetary interest charged or profit gained on the builder's-side. Mortgage payments are placed in a fund used to finance future housing projects.
