High Plains Humane Society

"THE GREATNESS OF A SOCIETY AND ITS MORAL PROGRESS CAN BE JUDGED BY THE WAY ITS ANIMALS ARE TREATED." - Ghandi

The mission of the High Plains Humane Society is to reduce animal cruelty, exploitation, and neglect. We advocate for sensible public policies to institute positive change and to educate the general public on the importance of being responsible pet owners. Knowing that sterilizing animals is key to solving our over-population and high euthanasia numbers, we offer a low-income spay/neuter program. We are constantly striving to make this world a better place for our furry friends, and networking with other organizations who also share our beliefs.

High Plains Humane Society works in Curry County and the surrounding areas to reduce animal cruelty, exploitation and neglect. We advocate for sensible public policies that bring forth positive changes in our community, and we educate the general public on the importance of being responsible pet owners. We are constantly striving to make this world a better place for our furry friends, and we network with other organizations who share our beliefs.

We established a continual, low-income spay and neuter program in the community for pet owners who could not otherwise afford this service. Sterilization is the key to solving the region's over-population and excessively high euthanasia numbers.

We partner with local veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and their staff to provide quality care for each pet. As part of the program, each pet is spayed or neutered. Additionally they are given important vaccinations to prevent illness and the spreading of diseases, and a microchip to assist in getting a pet back home if it ever becomes lost.
