Habitat for Humanity Carlsbad Area works in partnership with people in need to build decent, affordable housing.

Habitat for Humanity Carlsbad Area shall seek to provide modest but adequate housing following the gospel of Jesus Christ to help those in need by creating a better human habitat in which to live and work, to associate with other agencies and groups functioning with a similar kindred purpose by expanding the number of persons participating in the ministry, and to enact the ministry through loving acts and the spoken and written word.

Habitat for Humanity Carlsbad Area (HFH-C) is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a non-profit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Located in Carlsbad, NM, Habitat for Humanity Carlsbad Area works in partnership with people in need to build decent, affordable housing. The houses then are sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged.

Volunteers provide most of the labor, with individual, corporate and foundation donors providing money and materials to build Habitat houses. Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor – “sweat equity” - into building their homes, the homes of other families and helping Habitat for Humanity Carlsbad Area as needed. The mortgage payments go into a revolving fund that is used to build more houses.

In addition to the blitz build, volunteer are always needed to assist the build on scheduled work days, to serve as chairpersons on the board of directors, or to serve as lead or a member of one of the committees.
