The Edmonton Humane Society (EHS) would like to welcome you to our Facebook Page. The purpose of this page is to present information on the EHS and stories of public interest within the community.

We encourage you to submit your questions, comments, concerns, videos and stories, but please note this is a monitored and moderated page. We hope that you enjoy being a part of the EHS community of people concerned with animal welfare and looking to solve issues, ask questions, swap tips, give and get advice, and inquire about our services.

POSTING POLICY

Posts or comments that pertain to the following information/subject matter may be removed:

-Requesting information about an animal that was admitted to the EHS
Information regarding an animal that was admitted to the EHS will not be shared with the former owner or anyone else who inquires about the animal. Upon admitting, owners are required to sign a waiver stating that they do not have any right to information once the animal is turned over to the EHS. Due to confidentiality, we cannot release this information to the former owner(s) or the public.

-Requesting information about an adopted animal
To protect the privacy of the new owner(s), the EHS will not release any information about the adoptive family.

-Requesting information about an investigation being done by our Animal Protection Officers
Information about ongoing investigations or posts with opinions/comments pertaining to these investigations will be removed immediately from the EHS Facebook page.

-Lost, stolen or found animals
If an animal is lost, stolen or found we encourage you post to the local lost pets Facebook pages. All lost and found pets within the City of Edmonton are housed at the City's Animal Care & Control Centre. Because the EHS cannot verify reportings, rewards or information posted by third parties about lost, stolen or found animals we encourage posts of this nature be kept to a minimum or posted elsewhere.

-Misinformation
If misinformation has been posted and the EHS has attempted to correct it, and this has been unsuccessful due to the reposting or continual repeated postings based on the misinformation – those posts may be deleted.

-Complaints
Specific complaints or rantings about the EHS, our programs, services and policies where the author demonstrates that he/she does not wish to seek resolution using the EHS Complaints Policy may be deleted.

-Disrespecting other people
We want people to feel comfortable about posting their questions and answers on our Facebook page. Angry rants or abusive posts don't help achieve this and the moderators will delete them. Please don't post inflammatory messages designed to foster these kinds of arguments.

-Spam
Don't post the same message multiple times across the Facebook page. We understand with posting information on Facebook, it will not always remain at the top of the page. The information may seem relevant, urgent and important to the person who posted it, however duplicate posts to draw attention to an issue/topic that has already been posted about will be removed by the moderators.

Complaints pertaining to owners of animals and their welfare that list specific information, addresses and/or names may also be deleted by the moderator.

The Edmonton Humane Society reserves the right to remove any comments that are inappropriate and in violation of our terms of use. Comments will be removed and violators will be banned. We will remove any postings or comments with the following content:
