Tupelo-Lee Humane Society
We are an animal shelter in North MS!
Tupelo-Lee Humane Society's Mission Statement is to...
Promote Humane Treatment,
Prevent Cruelty,
Provide Education and,
End Pet Over-Population.
TLHS works hard to help the animals and citizens in Tupelo and Lee county. Spay and neuter is just one of our passions. We have adopted a mandatory spay/neuter policy. This means that all animals adopted will have to be spayed or neutered before the adopter takes them home.
TLHS also offers humane awareness programs in local schools, civic clubs, churches, etc. Please contact the shelter at 841-6500 about arranging a speaker for your group or for a tour of the shelter.
The Tupelo-Lee Humane Society (TLHS) was founded in December 1979 to bring more attention to companion animal overpopulation and to replace the local “pound” with a true animal shelter. Both goals were accomplished.
Our mission is to promote humane treatment, prevent cruelty, provide education, and end pet over-population.
TLHS is a privately run non-profit organization (501(c)3), but we do currently contract with and receive funding from the City of Tupelo and with Lee County to provide animals care services for the stray and unwanted animals in out community. However, TLHS primarily relies on funding from donations and fundraisers to help house, feed, and care for the 6,000 animals per year who enter our facility.

Only 4% of dogs and 1% of cats arrive at U.S. shelters already microchipped. Without ID, 90% of lost dogs will not be returned to their owner. Microchipping your pets can increase their chance of returning home to you. Contact us if you would like to schedule your pet for microchipping.

We believe that all pets deserve a chance, including those who get overlooked.
Precious is one of those overlooked pets, here is her story:
Precious was found as a feral dog wandering the busy streets and was finally caught by a local animal rescue group. Precious has been treated for heartworms, spayed and vaccinated, and needs a home where she can be herself preferably in a fenced in yard or at a country home. Pets like Precious may never know the comforts of an inside home but are still deserving of a loving home and care.
If you are interested in adopting Precious or Cheeseburger, you can visit our website and view our adoptable animals.
