What a morning! Today we worked with the local animal control officer to remove 48 cats & kittens out of a hoarding house. It took us about an hour to capture and cage everyone with only 4 people. It was quite the example of teamwork! The first cats were so happy they were just coming up to be put in carriers. The last 10 cats were more difficult and needed nets. There were only 12 kittens and 10 of those were under 2 pounds. Due to the amount of medical care needed we only kept 5 in our shelter and the rest were transferred to other organizations. Long term upper respiratory and conjunctivitis coupled with inbreeding resulted in quite a few having eye issues. We truly appreciate any help you can give and expect the 5 cats we kept to cost around $1500.00 to become adoption ready. They've already been cleaned up and started on meds. Watching them eat was heartbreaking. They are safe and we couldn't do it without your generous support! All donations are tax deductible and very much appreciated.

Buddy Update: He is back from surgery and spending the next 14 days in foster to recover. The tumor was way more extensive than what was thought, it wrapped around his jugular vein. He has almost 6 feet of sutures on the inside alone. We will restrict movement as much as possible for the next 3-5 days to help keep swelling down and draining to a minimal. He will be sporting cool shirts watching Netflix and getting as spoiled as possible for the next few weeks. We want to Thank everyone for your support. We can’t do our work without you.

Meet the newest Member of CHS! This is Buddy. He is a recent transfer in from Columbia County Animal Control. This guy is about 8 years old and is sweet as can be. As you can see he has a huge ruptured tumor on his shoulder that needs surgery. We have the surgery scheduled for tomorrow to have it removed. Thank to Midway Veterinary Hospital Pathology was inconclusive so we aren’t 100% sure what we are dealing with. What we do know is we appreciate your support and Buddy will appreciate your donations. As always we can’t do our work without your support. Remember all donations are tax deductible.
