Our mission is to give the best care and compassion to the animals in our care, be it a short or long stay and to find each and everyone their forever home.

The Smithfield Animal Control is the municipal shelter for the Town of Smithfield and a division of the Smithfield Police Department.

The shelter operates 7 days a week and our 2 ACW's (Animal Control Wardens) handle calls ranging from:

*Barking Dogs.
*Loose Dogs.
*Animal Bites.
*Animal Cruelty/Neglect.
*Feral Cats.
*Enforce all Smithfield Town Animal Ordinances along with RIGL's pertaining to animals.
*Run the biggest annual rabies clinic in the state.
*Work with and assist other community towns involving animal control.
* Run, maintain, care for and adopt out the animals held at the shelter.

Our shelter is staffed by 2 ACW's, 1 volunteer and 1 vet tech. We are serviced by Greenville and Warren Animal Hospitals and work closely with The RICSNC for all of our spaying and neutering of our adopted animals.
