November is National Adoption Month! You can celebrate by adopting a shelter pet from HES. We have plenty of adorable furry faces just waiting on their forever home. Here are a few reasons why adopting a shelter animal is so great!
1. When you adopt, you're saving a life. There are over 6.5 million animals in shelters that need rescuing each year.
2. You can save money by paying a small adoption fee instead of thousands of dollars at a breeder. A $50 dog and a $2,000 dog will love you just the same!
3. You're giving an animal a second chance. Many animals that come through shelters have been abandoned, neglected or lost. These poor babies are getting a chance at a better life when you take them home.
4. Unconditional love! When you adopt a pet from a shelter, they will love you forever! You become their whole world!
Please consider adoption the next time you're looking for a new pet. Here are a few cuties that are currently available at HES.

Today is the day to find your forever friend! Don’t miss out!

HES is fixing a plate for 🐾EVERYBODY🐾 in the family this Thanksgiving! The animals spending their holiday in the shelter may not have found their forever homes just yet, but they are a cherished part of our shelter family. Today, they are thankful for staff and volunteers who prepared and served the dogs and cats a traditional Thanksgiving spread - including turkey, carrots, and pumpkin pie. If you would like to make one of them part of YOUR family and give them something extra special to be thankful for, come to our Black Friday Special Adoption Event, adoption fees are waived 9am-7pm! Go to heschatt.org/adopt to see our available pets.

We have much to reflect on and be grateful for this year. At the start of this year, we were able to move into a brand new facility that offers more space, safer work areas for staff and animals, and heat throughout. ❄️
We are exceedingly grateful for our supporters, donors, shelter and thrift store volunteers, business partners, fosters, all of our highly dedicated staff, and the community! You are what makes HES successful and the best it can be for the welfare of animals.
Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving, y'all!

SUNNY 92.3 WET NOSE WEDNESDAY
Sandy 28166
This beautiful girl is Sandy, a 4-year-old Pit/Lab mix. Sandy is a very sweet girl. She can be a little shy when she first meets you, but she warms up quickly, especially if you have yummy treats! Sandy loves going for walks with the volunteers, and she especially enjoys being in playgroups with her canine pals. She is happy when she meets playful, friendly dogs. She'll give them a play bow and do her best to start a game of chase and wrestling. Sandy is beautiful and loving and would be the happiest girl ever if she had a forever home.
Toby 23269
Toby is a handsome guy. His personality is probably what many people think of when they think about a cat. He is fairly independent and wants attention only on his own terms. He has a regal stance and commands the room when he enters. He is able to live with other cats, but he demands respect from all who wish to share his space. Toby will let you know when he wants to be petted, but mostly he enjoys being adored from a distance. If Toby sounds like the kind of cat for you, come adopt him today!

Nico has been having a blast in foster care. He wants to find his forever home though and his foster parents try to show him off whenever they can!
Nico is such an awesome, healthy and strong dog! The fosters have taken Nico for long hikes (up to 6.5 miles!) and he wants to keep going! Loves sniffing around the woods, and he can climb up any rock scramble with ease.
In the shelter, he gets very anxious and starts to shut down. Getting him into a foster where he gets daily exercise, love, and adventure has really helped him! The fosters wanted to point all the things that make him the perfect family:
House trained
Rarely barks.
Nico is obedient, will come when called by his name. Knows “sit”. We’re working on “down”, “stay” and “paw”.
Is treat motivated.
Pretty good on the leash - but if he gets excited or has excess energy, he will pull. We are working on “heel”
Loves to play “basketball” with his basketball plushie toy - will “dribble” the toy between your legs and around furniture as you try to steal it from him. Then he’ll leave the toy on the ground and turn away, to see if you try to go for it. Will fetch and return.
Loves humans and attention and is affectionate. Nico loves a good facial massage. Will follow you around the house and sit by your feet (he might even lick those toes!)
Big time wagger. Happy and goofy dog.
Dog selective
Great sleeper - will sleep in his crate for a good 8 hours.
Has the softest fur ever…
Apply to adopt Nico on our website heschatt.org (link in bio).

These four little kittens ended up at HES when they were found abandoned at a gas station. They were fighting terrible upper respiratory infections that made it difficult for them to breathe. Shortly after going to foster care, they were diagnosed with panleukopenia too(which is similar to canine parvovirus). Ghoul in particular had the worst eye infection and we feared he would lose his eyes! You can see below the transformation. While odds were against them, they all pulled through. Their fosters saved their lives! They were equipped with training and medicine that was crucial for their survival. They were willing to do whatever it took to keep them alive. We can’t save lives without foster families!
Their foster Amanda said “this experience has not only benefitted the kittens but has also brought my family together. Each group of kittens brings joy to our house. We never realized how much of a difference fostering makes until we started becoming active fosters this year. “ Thank you fosters ☺️

Sunny 92.3 Wet Nose Wednesday
Dutch 26716
For those of you think big dogs are the coolest, Dutch is perfect for you. She's a beautiful, 7-year-old, 90-pound Matiff mix and she's looking for her forever home. Dutch enjoys living life to the fullest and has lots of interests including going for walks, playing with her friends in doggy playgroups, and taking relaxing soaks in the doggy pool. Dutch is a very strong girl. While she has been working on her leash manners, she will definitely need someone who will continue her training. If Dutch sounds like your kind of girl, make your appointment to come meet her today.
Pearl 26670
This week's Wet Nose Wednesday cat is an adorable 11-month-old named Pearl. Pearl is friendly with people and also gets along with other cats. She's young and still has some of that kitten-like spunk and sass that make young cats so much fun. Right now Pearl is keeping people entertained at the Naughty Cat Cafe until she finds her forever home. You can call the cafe at (423) 541-4316 to set up a time to meet her.

Meet adoptable cat, Miney!
Miney is incredulous that she has this executive suite all to herself!
There is a lot to do in the room, but first she needs to monitor all the activity outside-birds, squirrels, dogs, dogs walkers. If you walk into her room, she will run over to greet you and check you out.
This sweet girl is FIV+, which means that while she can live a healthy life, she’ll need to be either an only cat or be in a home with other FIV+ cats. Visit the link in our bio to fill out an adoption application to meet her!

Hi! Hi! Hi! I'm Waffles, a cute name for a cute dog, don't you think?! If you want a dog with a joyful spirit, one that's ready to go on long walks or more active adventures, and one that loves people, you have found her. It's me, Waffles. If you want one with good manners, well . . . I'm working on it.
I'm a wiggly, waggy, smiley girl most of the time. Look at the pictures! Once I get in a home, I'll slowly settle down and become your best lapdog. In fact, I want to be your only lapdog. I'm not crazy about other dogs so much. Cats either. I'm a little boisterous for all but older kids who have been taught to respect dogs.
I'm a strong medium-size girl. Shelter people are working with me to Sit, Down, Wait at doors and not pull on a leash, but I'd rather play and have FUN! They are determined, though, so I may be doing all those things when we meet.
We are going to meet, aren't we? Fill out an adoption application online and ask to meet Waffles. You will love my spirit! I will love you!
