Turtle-Love Animal Rescue & Rehabilitation Shelter

Turtle-Love Animal Rescue & Rehabilitation Shelter

Turtle-Love Rescue & Rehabilitation is a No-Kill Shelter. We accept all animals from domestic to wildlife, & specialize in reptiles. Always open.

Our Mission at Turtle-Love Rescue & Rehabilitation Shelter is to provide the best quality of love and care possible to all of God's creatures, especially His animals who are unable to care for themselves. We strive to provide the highest standard of care to both domestic animals and wildlife. We provide shelter, food, medical care, grooming needs, as well as providing rehoming preparation/training, and help to find forever homes to all animals, reptiles, and amphibians that are eligible for adoption, and for those who are not eligible for adoption or to be released back into the wild, we guarantee a permanent home in our shelter. We are a NO-KILL shelter and will never turn away any animal, or send an animal to be put down regardless of the circumstance.

Turtle-Love Animal Rescue & Rehabilitation Shelter believes in voluntary professional best management practices; or BMP’s. BMP’s are professional standards, practices and protocols that insure animal welfare, public & occupational safety, biological & environmental integrity and the continued improvement of Herpetoculture as a viable non-traditional agricultural pursuit.

We hold our rescue & rehabilitation shelter to the highest standards when it comes to the care of all domestic animals and wildlife, but especially in the care of reptiles and amphibians, because lack of proper research, education, husbandry skills and care is the reason for such an alarming and overwhelming number of rescues, shelters, humane societies, and pounds holding maximum capacity on the reptiles they can keep, and this doesn't account for even half of the displaced reptiles in America. We hold ourselves to the Keepers Code of Ethics created by The US Association of Reptile Keepers in our standard of care for all reptiles and amphibians that enter our shelter and are under our care.

Keepers Code of Ethics

The US Association of Reptile Keepers strives to uphold the highest ethical standards in the keeping, care, breeding and sale of reptiles and amphibians.

Turtle-Love & USARK considers access to quality medical care and veterinary care a prerequisite to ownership.

Turtle-Love & USARK endorses training and mentoring programs necessary to ensure the highest standards of proficiency in working with these animals.

Turtle-Love & USARK regards the intentional release of exotic reptiles into the wild as highly irresponsible and believes there are NO circumstances that justify the act.

Turtle-Love & USARK is committed to conservation, education and community out reach. Spreading the truth about reptiles is crucial to overcoming cultural bias, negative stereotypes and unsubstantiated fears that threaten the private ownership of these magnificent creatures.

We rescue & rehabilitate injured wildlife, abandoned wildlife babies, and other wildlife that is either sick or in some form of danger. We also rescue domestic animals/strays and pets that have been abandoned, abused, neglected, or can no longer be cared for by their current owner(s) for various reasons. We provide every species of animal, reptile, bird, and fish with proper food, medical care, and habitat/shelter with adequate living space and attention. We have over 10 years of experience working with various species of reptiles, but mostly we work with snakes and turtles. We have over 20 years of experience in working with domestic animals and farm animals, birds, and fish. We have over 16 acres of land that we are building more habitats, ponds/lakes, and roaming/grazing area for those that are in our shelter. We continue to build and expand our habitats so that we may take in more animals, reptiles, birds, and fish when we receive calls for rescues and/or for those that are brought in/surrendered to our shelter. As we have stated in other areas of our page, no animal, reptile, bird, or fish will be turned away for any reason, but when the animal is a pet being surrendered to us we do require the current owner(s) to sign the proper paperwork giving all rights and ownership of the animal, reptile, bird, or fish over to the shelter. We take money donations and donations in the form of supplies, food, etc.., and we appreciate all donations to our shelter because the expenses that are involved in caring for these animals, reptiles, birds, and fish can, and do get very costly. Regardless of the donations, we will do everything necessary to insure that no animal at our shelter will go without any of their needs. Please contact us by phone or email if you would like to make a tax deductible donation to our shelter and cause...you will be helping to save an animals life which is one of the best feelings you will ever have in this world!
