Herman is celebrating his THIRD Frostiversary!
Quickly after arriving at Frosted Faces Herman found himself down a few bladder stones and 12 teeth. The Ravens family signed up to take him on a Frosted Fling so he could recover in a home. He didn’t waste time sealing that deal and convinced them to make it forever. Here’s an update:
“We can’t believe Herman has made it to his third Frostiversary! He wasn’t expected to live past his first year with us but he told the prognosis “Just watch me!” Herman has had a different personality every year that we’ve had him due to his progressing dementia. He now shows no signs of aggression from his first year but an increase in the need for attention from his second year. Herman seems the most content and lively when he is outside with a warm breeze flowing through his floppy ears. His vet suspects that he is now completely blind. But he still enjoys being pulled in his wagon on walks and taking in all the smells. It takes a lot of work and patience being Herman’s family. But from the moment my mom chose him in the play yard at HQ, partially due to his poor diagnosis and upcoming surgeries, and the want to give him a family for his last chapter, we made a commitment to be there for him and love him through the hard and exhausting times. He is so deserving of love and happiness and we hope he feels that from us in overwhelming amounts. Herman is an indispensable member of our family and we wouldn’t want it any other way.”

Opal is celebrating her SECOND Frostiversary!
Her family shared this update:
“Hello everyone! Thank you so much for donating to Opal and to Frosted Faces. It’s our two year Frostiversary, and what a weird few years it’s been. Having been able to spend them with Opal, however, has made them infinitely better. We went on road trips, camping, hikes, naps, trips to the beach, park, and ate lots and lots of snackies. Opal is a constant companion, she wants to hang out all day every day, no matter what or where, and she always brings joy to every situation. She’s eating healthy, exercising every day, getting lots of sleep, and we are looking forward to many more adventures to come.”

PART TWO OF TWO
"When I signed the paperwork to forever foster Dolly Louise she gave me a big kiss! It took her a bit to feel completely comfortable in her new home initially, and it was clear to us that she was likely scolded for coughing by her last owners as she would run away and hide when she had to cough. Fortunately, medication can alleviate some of the coughing and provide her some relief, and she also knows now that she'll never be in trouble for coughing! Aside from the coughing, you would never guess the health issues Dolly Louise has or the fact she's 12. She is the epitome of a Frosted Faker and loves going for long walks and has so much energy! She does enjoy a good nap burrowed in blankets, though. Dolly Louise is very good with her super senior sister (18) Cocoa and she ignores the sassy resident cat. She is now so affectionate with my husband and me and as she's settled in, she has grown so comfortable and feels safe with us. She was completely housebroken, so we didn't have to worry about that - another bonus for adopting a senior dog!
When I first brought Dolly Louise home, I thought it was something we should do to give back, but now that she's in our home and an integral part of our life, I recognize that she was meant to be a part of our family just like Parker!
She just visited Dr. Russell recently and received a good report! We love our sweet girl and are grateful that the Frosted Faces Foundation covers her medical expenses so we can focus on providing her the best rest of her life--with us.”

PART ONE OF TWO
Dolly Louise was impounded as a stray and found herself at San Diego Humane Society-El Cajon. Like many of our previous dogs, Dolly has a severe collapsing trachea, which occurs when the cartilage rings around the windpipe flatten, or collapse, and causes breathing problems with a dry, honking cough. We chose her and 14 other pups to exit from the San Diego Humane Society of El Cajon back in early June!
Charity and husband Dan recently lost their Frosted Face Parker (formerly Coral), who was in her Forever Home for only a short time before succumbing to pneumonia. For them, the best way to honor Parker’s memory was to help another dog in need. In August, their pup, Cocoa, got another Frosted sister: the precious Dolly Louise! Here is an update from her family:
“In August of this year, my husband and I were grieving our beloved Parker who had passed unexpectedly after a difficult battle with pneumonia. We had only had her a month but were beyond devastated as we had quickly become attached. Due to the contagious and aggressive illness she had the majority of the time we had her, there was so much we never did with her--happy hour with her on our laps, running around Fiesta Island, long, leisurely walks in the neighborhood--the list goes on and on. We decided to honor Parker by giving another dog a chance to do all these things that she couldn't. In particular, we wanted to bring home a dog with poor long-term outcomes and give them a home to call theirs when it mattered most. Honestly, it wasn't great timing with a friend coming to visit and Dan starting a new job, but I felt like this was something we had to do.
I matched with Dolly Louise on the hike and decided then and there this sweet, cute little chihuahua with long legs, expressive brown eyes and a spotted tail was meant to be ours. At Frosted Faces, Dolly Louise was in the area reserved for the 'Super Seniors' and dogs with special needs. Dolly Louise was never spayed and as a result, had numerous mammary masses. Additionally, she has a severely collapsed trachea--meaning she coughs--a lot!"

On November 4th, we fulfilled our promise to Frosted Face Carrie.
Carrie was a stray to Long Beach Shelter and they reached out to us for safe exit. Sabrina Chapman had the honor of doing her freedom ride to FFF.
Carrie was itty bitty teeny weeny and oh so sweet. She buried herself in blankets and observed her new surroundings. Volunteer, Alanna recalled from our Halloween party, "I had the privilege of seeing the couple that took her trick or treating at the party, and they were so kind to her. She was snuggled up in the woman's jacket, looking very content. At the snuffle mat table, she attacked that snuffle mat with everything she had, sticking her whole face in it. We all got a good chuckle. It was the sweetest thing, and I'm so glad she had the best time at the party."
What a relief it was to see Carrie eat finally because she was not eating well previously and was diagnosed with congestive heart failure along with mammary masses.
On the sunny afternoon of November 4th, Carrie was lateral with poor color. We rushed her to High Valley Veterinary Hospital for care, but valiant efforts could not save her.
I hope tiny Carrie knows she mattered and was loved.

Cowboy was entrusted to us through the Final Wish Program when his dad passed away. He was 79 years old and they never spent a day apart. He went everywhere in his car in the front seat, slept in his bed, went to dinners with him. Family let us know, "They were totally inseparable. When my dad was taken away by the coroner, Cowboy was keening for hours."
Cowboy is a very good boy, and his anxiety in the absence of a human tells the same story of his loyalty and dependence on his dad. We want Cowboy to find another person to be devoted to for the rest of his days.
Cowboy came to us having had full diagnostics, however, on exam Dr. Russell discovered what he thinks are likely anal gland carcinomas. He has an ultrasound scheduled for later next week to look for metastasis and then we will follow up for a consult with a surgeon.
When we take on these Final Wish Frosteds, we treat them as our own doing everything we can that their parents would have wanted.
Read more about our Final Wish Program here: https://frostedfacesfoundation.org/finalwish/
Cowboy is house trained, and well socialized with dogs, cats, and kids. He does cry in his human's absence and this should be considered when planning to add him to your family.

PART TWO of TWO: Happy is a very loving and loyal companion. But he does get jealous of my horses. He doesn't like me giving attention to any other animal, especially the huge monsters known as horses. Happy has learned to tolerate the fur balls (cats) that he has to share the house with. Happy brings us so much joy! Happy gets acupuncture once a month from Dr. Lipman. He really dislikes the needles, but he loves all the treats he receives during the treatment! Happy also gets chiropractor adjustments from time to time from our horse chiropractor. He loves that!
Happy brings so much Happiness to my life! He is such a smart and sweet little guy. We love him to pieces! I never imagined that I would end up with a little white fluffy dog, but I can't imagine my life without my Little Dude!”

PART ONE of TWO: Happy is celebrating his SECOND Frostiversary!
Happy found himself at the shelter after his owner became ill. He stayed positive through it all and quickly after arriving at Frosted Faces caught the eye of volunteer Kerry. Check out what they have been up to:
“We try to celebrate every day with Happy! For Happy's Frostiversary, we plan on getting together with his fellow FF friends. But first, Happy will want to start his day out by going to Starbucks for his puppiccino. The local winery or the dog park will be on the list of places to go for the day. Happy is not picky on where he goes or what he does, as long as he is with his Mom.
We no longer dine out, unless the restaurant accommodates dogs. Happy goes everywhere we go, except for work. He has even been to the car dealerships when we have bought our new cars. Happy has to test the cars out as well!
Happy loves food!!! Puppiccinnos and treats from Kahoots Pet Food Store are his favorite! Favorite activities include car rides, as long as it's not going to the vet's office!!! Walking our neighborhood, as long as we get a lift back home because walking back home is no fun. But Happy's favorite place on Earth is Kahoot's! They all know him there and treat him as if he is royalty. They say Happy should be their mascot. Last Christmas, Happy gave the Kahoot's team members a box of chocolate candy and a Christmas card with his pic on it. The team members still have his picture card hanging up in their break room. Happy is just a Happy little dude and a Mama's boy.

Owen is celebrating his THIRD Frostiversary!
Three years ago Owen left for a frosted fling and never came back! In his time at Frosted Faces’ Facility Owen showed he would prefer to be the star of the show and not share his toys, lucky for Owen his fling family Julie and Rick agreed he was all they needed. Here’s an update:
“I thought that I would share a day in the life of Owen. He’s a pretty routine guy and loves it.
4:30 the alarm goes off and it’s time for early morning rubs from mom and dad. Excitement builds as daddy puts his harness on first thing and off they go for peepee time. As soon as that’s over it’s time to run down the hall 100 mph to see if mom’s still in the room making the bed. All is well in the bedroom so off back down the hall he goes to bark at dad and tell him to hurry up with breakfast. 5am is poopoo walk with both mom and dad. After he gets back, his dad makes his Ezekiel toast and shares with Owen. Owen likes to supervise to let his dad know when the toast pops up. After toast time he settles into his crate to watch mom do her stretches. After stretch time, mommy picks him up and he gets to lay on the bed under a blanket while she gets ready for work. By 6:30 he’s running back down the hall and goes back into his crate while mom goes to work. She’s home from her first shift by 9:30, so it’s not too long. His afternoon and evening goes pretty much the same. Every morning runs exactly like this.
I’ve noticed that Owen gets a bit nervous when things are out of routine and thrives when we stick to it. His kennel is his comfort place. He’s pretty much the King of his castle. An only child to older parents who adore him. He’s healthy, happy and a joy to his family.
Thank you Frosted Faces for getting our little guys. We love you Owen. Happy 3rd Frostiversary!”

Coco Jo was surrendered to the shelter by his previous owners because his owners could not afford his care. Coco Jo had numerous health issues and needed some extensive surgeries including an enucleation (eye removal) and an extensive dental. He healed well and found a new Family with fellow FF Mya! Here's an update:
"Coco Jo is settling in comfortably. He has a skill of peeing while walking on two front paws.
He is sending love and much appreciation to volunteer Jodi, all Kennel Managers, and FFF for rescuing him, and taking care of him until he found his forever home. He is very energetic and competing with Mya to be the Alpha of the house dogs.
My encouragement for others thinking about adopting a senior: some mostly have a not too good compelled past. Learn about them and give them what the need."

On October 14th, Shirley and Robert fulfilled their promise to Frosted Face Ralphie.
They shared,
"Yesterday my sweet Ralphie went over the rainbow. 🌈 I fell instantly in love with his sweet face on #frostedfacesfoundation website and knew he had to be mine. He was older, had vision and spine issues, but to me he was perfect. We did everything we could to rehab his back legs over the last two months, after worsening walking issues, but suddenly yesterday his body went limp and he could no longer fight. He was my joy for the last 11 months and he rescued my heart more than I rescued him and I am forever grateful.

Tucker and 16 other other dogs from his house were impounded last month when his guardian ran into legal trouble. They were very well cared for, but under any circumstances they would not be allowed to return home because there were too many dogs based on county regulations. We rescued a handful of them including Pebbles, Daisy, and Jasmine.
Hilary Lines-Raymond had the honor of doing Tucker's freedom ride to FFF. Dr. Russell evaluated him right away and his bloodwork and x-rays were normal, other than monitoring an elevated UPC. Tucker had dental surgery at College Animal Hospital where they extracted 24 teef!
Tucker is house trained and doesn't even sleep in a kennel at night, he just chills on a comforter in the Littles' room. In fact, we used him as the model male dog when we recently had a kindergarten class visit, where they practiced putting a belly band on him!
To know how innocent and sweet tubby Tucker is, is to know true empathy for a dog that lost his stable family and environment. You just want all good things to happen for these guys and we can't make it happen overnight or all alone.
Please consider Tucker to be part of your family or share his story.
