Austin Guinea Pig Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing and rehoming guinea pigs, chinchillas, hamsters, gerbils, mice, degus and hedgehogs in the Austin, Texas area. All of our animals are in private foster homes and an application is required. The adoption fee for guinea pigs is $25, for hamsters, gerbils and mice $10, for chinchillas, degus and hedgehogs is $65.

WE DO NOT TAKE OWNER SURRENDERS! Please don't call, email, message, or post about AGPR about taking in any of your animals. We cannot. We do not have the funds or space for any more animals. One gets adopted and two come in. When you say yes to more than you can properly care for, you become a hoarder and neglectful caretaker, even with the best of intentions. It is not our responsibility to take in your pet, even if you "rescued" them from a pet store or a friend or a sad situation. We will help you with information on how to rehome them or find vet care, but we will not be able to take in your animal. Our mission is to help as many pets and owners as we can. AS WE CAN does not mean EVERY SINGLE ONE. We save many little lives on a shoestring budget, mostly out of our own pockets. As a responsible rescue, we have to say no to owner surrenders. Be a responsible pet owner and do your part please. We would truly love to help educate you, give you resources, lend you a cage if needed, so please do ask for help, but do not ask us to take your piggy.
