Wood County Humane Society

A private, non-profit (501)(c)(3) organization dedicated to bringing the best possible care to Wood County domesticated animals.

The Wood County Humane Society exists in order to bring about the best possible treatment and quality of life for animals in Wood County.

The Wood County Humane Society will emphasize the following goals:

Assistance to pet owners through low-cost rabies clinics, discounted spay/neuter, advice and referral.

Education of Wood County citizens in the principles and practice of humane treatment of animals.

Investigation and resolution of animal cruelty and abuse reports.

Provision of a clean, healthy shelter environment for animals whose owners cannot care for them or which have been removed from abusive situations.

WCHS is a 501c3 non-profit organization funded predominantly through donations from local individuals and businesses, Community Shares of Northwest Ohio (a workplace giving campaign), and fundraisers like the Wine & Dine, annual garage sale, and the Mutt Strut. The Wood County Commissioners generously help fund our Cruelty Investigation Officer, but we receive no other funding from national humane organizations, the United Way or the government.
