We are two volunteers who assist Animal Control in placing animals. This page exists to promote and share the dogs and cats at their facility.

This page is run by the volunteers of Woof Connection Inc., not shelter employees. If you are interested in fostering and live in the central VA area, please fill out a foster application at www.augustadogadoptions.org. Fostering saves lives!

If you are interested in adopting from the shelter, please read CAREFULLY and follow the below instructions.

There is no adoption fee to adopt directly from the shelter. PLEASE remember that spay/neuter (required by law), vaccinations, flea/tick medication, and food are a large financial commitment!

1. Call 434-969-4242 between 8:30 AM and 4:30 pm, M-F.

2. Ask to be transferred to the Buckingham County Animal Shelter.

3. Leave a message stating your name, which animal you are interested in, and your phone number. Please speak clearly!

4. When one of the officers calls you back, explain in detail which animal(s) you are interested in. They can help you make an appointment time.

5. Ask for directions, and please show up -- on time! No shows and late arrivals damage the Animal Control Officer's perception of the public and may make it more difficult for future adopters and rescues to get to the dogs.
