Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society

The GMHS was started in 1912 to protect animals.The GMHS serves Gloucester, Matthews and Middlesex counties.

To improve life for all animals by providing temporary shelter, compassionate care, community support and education.

The GMHS services the Gloucester, Mathews, and Middlesex counties. Only a small percentage of the Society's operating funds come from these counties; the rest comes from fundraising efforts by volunteers, grants, and other sources.

Our objectives are to:

- Be a beacon in animal adoption, welfare, and
advocacy.
- Provide care for stray and homeless animals.
- Be a driving force for animal education.
- Develop a culture of collaboration and
service.
- Ensure financial sustainability.
