Central Virginia Humane Society and SPCA

We are a 501(c)3 shelter celebrating our 25th anniversary in 2013, but under a new name. We STILL rescue and rehome needy animals in central Virginia.

We actively seek to remove euthanasia as a means of overpopulation control, through an agressive spay/neuter program, and to administer to the needs of abandoned, abused, stray, lost, and owner surrendered animals. We graduate them from our wellness and training programs as adoptable animals, and transport them locally to homes, or nationally to rescue affiliates who have available homes.

Currently, we have a 2300 sq. ft. building not sutable to house animals. We are reviewing its use for a member's room, board meeting room, professional kitchen for fundraising events, full size public bathroom, and an apartment for a 24/7 live in kennel manager. Wewill add additional building for animal rescue as needed and funding can be found.
